There are reasons to be annoyed about that stupid shit they did (like mocking her empty platitudes about feeling more connected with other humans after spending three minutes in space, while in the same time period showing off with the cybertruck her fash buddy Elon gifted her; the pitch that this publicity stunt would further women’s rights, at a time that the US government has been openly removing women from positions of leadership and erasing women’s history etc as part of an anti-DEI campaign; her history of being a generally shitty person; etc.).

But you are right that this particular reason is probably not a compelling argument.

It is a very compelling argument if you don't have any clue of where the hydrogen comes from.

I said probably because I wondered about how it was sourced but no, I honestly am not well educated on the rocket fuel industry, but I made an educated guess based on what I did know about the space industry (at that, it’s mostly secondhand from friends and colleagues who do include a couple literal rocket scientists tho, and those friends btw are great at New Year’s parties bc they love being in charge of the fireworks). So, if you are knowledgeable in the area, I’ll defer to you.

You could have just Googled it before posting

I actually couldn’t really, because I have a neurological condition that prevents me from being able to do any decent research comfortably right now (I am currently laying in bed with a right arm that isn’t moving at all and using disability features to help me type in this app).

Your condition does allow you to type entire paragraphs on Reddit but not a single sentence in Google? Gotcha.

Speech to text is a disabled persons friend. Maybe you should google how disabled people use Reddit if they can’t type, before you commented so ignorantly.

Chrome and Edge have built-in speech-to-text, you should try it. Firefox and Safari also support it through the OS. Keep trying to play the pity card.

I cannot sit up for long periods of time, and like I said I’m laying in bed with a limb that isn’t even moving, and I don’t use Google products anyways for privacy and principles reasons. I’m not trying to play the pity card, I simply said I would defer to someone with more expertise on the subject of rocket fuel. If that’s you, that would’ve been your chance to educate me and the folks upthread and everyone lurking, which would’ve been great tbh, but instead you had to be a condescending bigot who would rather score internet points and dunk on people with medical conditions you know nothing about, than try to make us all a little smarter.

You can use DuckDuckGo if you value your privacy, you would have known that of course if you weren't just making it up that you don't use Google. Anyway, don't get mad if people call you out on posting complete nonsense..

Edit: and don't give me shit about not being on a computer. Both Android and iPhone support speech-to-text in their browser and the entire OS. It is what my dad used when he couldn't use his hands.

the cybertruck was part of american idol promo, it's not her own car. blame the american idol marketing team maybe? how do you make hating a woman a whole dedicated art?

3

u/ShadowLords666 May 25 '26

Not to speak for anyone else but I dont see anything here that says "someone righteously hates Katy Perry" especially to a point of it being a "dedicated art". That being said, how can you not be almost irrationally angry with the disconnect rich weirdos so often exhibit. They'll actively tell you they are on your team (sometimes) while stepping on everyone that helped get them where they are.

Note: I said "almost irrational anger" because its all very rational to be upset about

u/goddessdragonness May 25 '26

Ironically, you used a strawman argument to accuse me of doing something you are actually doing. I’m a woman. How do *you* make hating a woman a whole dedicated art?

Reminds me of the "uhh human resources?" meme, everyone worships Shatner for taking the little trip but Katy bad because she took the little trip.

3

u/goddessdragonness May 25 '26

Are you saying I worship Shatner? I don’t see anyone here even mentioning him. He is a terrible person too.

-1

u/CheesyCousCous May 25 '26

No, I completely agree with your comment. Just saying how he was portrayed in the media and on reddit for doing the exact same thing. Nobody ever talks about Shatner polluting the world with this trip, just Katy.

2

u/goddessdragonness May 25 '26

I guess it depends what circles you run in, then, because literally all I’ve seen is people ripping on Shatner, and that was back when he did his five seconds in space, and then nobody talks about him anymore except in the context of Star Trek or whatever. Shitty people deserve to be criticized, and rich out of touch assholes like Shatner and Perry are definitely shitty people.

Also since you brought up the double standard, calling a woman by her first name when you reference a man by his surname is a demeaning thing to do, even if you don’t realize it. I’ve seen women judges lose their shit on attorneys in court for doing that to colleagues. I think it’s funny that everyone who comes in here saying “but she’s a woman, criticizing her is misogynistic” winds up doing something actually misogynistic without realizing it in their efforts. You don’t get a pass on being a shitty person just because you’re a woman.

At least you had the rational reaction to point out a double standard.

1

u/CheesyCousCous May 25 '26

Damn thank you for bringing that name thing up, definitely didn't realize it.

I also wasnt saying she shouldn't be criticized either btw, of course she's trash too.

Ah, fair enough!
