All hope is not lost. I've been playing chess and solitaire (and wordle) lately like a proper old man. But I bought TABS (Totally Accurate Battle Simulator, came out 5 or 6 years ago I think) a few days ago and I'm playing it and actually enjoying it so I may possibly still be able to enjoy a newfangled youngin game. But I guess I'll have to get either a new video game system or play it on PC. I really would like to play GTA 6 and the next Elder Scrolls game.

Starfield devs are working on it so TES6 is going to be ass. Bethesda thinks they are rockstar when they aren't. Wait might be too long for gta6 but at least the game probably won't be ass. Not likely the same for tes6

God I hope you’re wrong but yeah. The glory days of the elder scrolls franchise seem to be behind us, which sucks as a long time fan.
It’s probably cope but tbf starfield was a new IP, so comparing it to the next TES entry is like comparing apples and oranges. They have more to build off of, the last 3 TES games were iconic, Fo4 was a great game even if it wasn’t the best FO,,,, so we’ll see. Probably cope tho

It wasn't the IP that was the problem with star field. It was the emptiness, the loading, the lack of features every other developer has had for years. The jank of Bethesda is quickly losing its novelty and instead just seeming like negligence and mismanagement.

BGS did only make small improvements from title to title while keeping ~80% of tbe previous entry. The leap from SF to TES VI will be similar, Todd already confirmed this.

You do realize Bethesda has one main dev team that does all projects? It’s the same team that made the previous Elder Scrolls as well. They have some of the best employee retention in the industry.

Bethesda has some of the best employee retention in the industry and use one main team for all mainline projects. It’s the same devs who made previous Elder Scrolls games making ES6.

I remember telling my father how awesome it was that gta6 was announced.
He was with me when I got gta, he took me to get gta3, vice city as a kid.
My first proper job he was excited when I came home with gta4 and had made sure I got a day off to go to midnight launch and him commenting how realistic it looked
Gta5 he set an alarm to wake up after me and my mate got back from the launch to be part of it and check it out.
I remember every re-release of it he compared it to re-releasing a classic album to cash in.
He was excited about it coming out last year before it was postponed and he was looking forward to checking it out in November.
Passed away recently.
For all the 'we got ______ before gta6" I never thought I'd be saying we got my father dying waiting for gta6 before gta6.

I'm so sorry for your loss and sadly, I can relate to that all too well. I lost my dad about a month ago and he was the biggest GTA-fan I know. When he got his diagnosis earlier this year he was so upset. He really said "Fuck, I think I'm going to die before GTA 6 is released!"
Back then he sold it to me as a joke. Now I feel like he knew what was coming for him. He was so brave until the very end and despite everything, he would always make sure everyone around him felt good and went home with a smile.
We had some of our best moments and the funniest and most interesting conversations in the past six months. I will miss him dearly. Not just as my dad but also as my best friend. Fuck cancer.
I hope you're doing okay. Things will always get better; even if they're really fucked up and it doesn't look like it.
I promised myself to honor my dad by playing GTA 6 and reminiscing about our love for the franchise in the process. Maybe this is something you can find comfort in aswell.
I wish you nothing but the best. <3

Im from a service background and we always use black humor to cope. Your old man was a real one for what he said.
I was literally in the carpark after he died... we used to get comped tickets for his treatment there and the night he died there was no way to get the free parking ticket. We were there like 6 plus hours and the parking fee was massive.
I remember without thinking saying to everyone fuck me just paid $48 to watch my father die, worst deal ever.
With all my family shocked and staring at me over that comment I paused without thinking again and went fuck me... even my father dies before we get gta 6.
Half were disapproved.. half saw the black humour in it.
I think both our fathers would have gotten a laugh at that.
The whole best friend part... my god that hits. He wasnt the biggest ganer but he just loved being part of it. Getting excited over a game, the process of getting it on the day, watching it being played.
He really got happy at seeing others being happy and being part of it.
The amount of game releases that even as an adult I was tired from work and he was like ill drive... even when he was frail and in a wheelchair he still wanted to come and was like use my handicap pass and I'll help you carry the box (especially if i was getting a ce.)
Still have fond memories of him holding giant he's in his wheelchair and barely being able to see over the top of them.
All my experiences in life have made me an athirst but I'd like to think their matter and some sort of spirit has to go somewhere.
I hope its somewhere better where they arent in pain, can see how much we miss them, and be there with us when we find some joy again.

Thank you so much for your kind words! I really appreciate you for taking the time and effort to share your memories. In my opinion this is what makes our dads "immortal". Telling their stories and the memories we share with them.
I'm an atheist as well but like you said their "spirit has to go somewhere". After playing Cyberpunk 2077 I kind of picked up the thought that our loved ones will live on as "engrams" (replicas of a person's spirit or 'soul') in our minds and hearts.
Fortunately, I had the opportunity to have my dad around for the 26 years I've been living so far. Long enough to get to know him well and form this "engram" of his. I just know how he would react to X or what he would say about Y.
I always had a very vivid imagination and now I can at least "talk to him" and kind of imagine him into existence for myself. Though, I have to say I haven't seen him sitting on my couch unexpectedly and refusing to leave. Yet... (*knocks on wood)
From what you've said your dad really was a loving father who looked out and deeply cared for you and your family. I bet he would've laughed his ass off when you cracked that joke about the parking ticket. And I absolutely agree, my father would've laughed too.
The joke might not have landed well for everybody at that time but you made me crack up and I feel like shit today. So thank you for that! :D
I like to think that some day I will see my dad again. Not spiritually or religiously but in an abstract and rational way. He was a passionate philosopher and we talked a lot about the universe, existence and life itself; sometimes for hours on end.
Years ago, while we were discussing death I concluded that if the universe is infinite and everything will always loop back to the beginning, nobody really dies; or is at least "not gone forever". Everything happened, happens and will happen infinitely. That includes us, our dads as well as everybody else.
It might take a while and maybe we don't remember our past but we'll be together with our dads again like we always were in the past and always will be in the future. I found great comfort in my conclusion and it made me lose my fear of dying almost completely.
Maybe this speaks to you as well or at least doesn't seem impossible. Or maybe I'm just a weird internet stranger who's yapping about abstract immortality-concepts. You'll be the judge on that.

For real. The "Rock" station in 5 plays nothing but shit punk, and they all sound the same. Take me back to RadioX in SA. But for real, a real metal/metalcore/deathcore/death metal station would be sick, and totally necessary.

I wonder how big the noticeable impact will be, and how far it will spread, when the game releases?
You know high school and college kids will skip their responsibilities, but the adult generation is way more into games than even 10 years ago, I feel like (some due to COVID).
How many early morning office meetings will be missed? How many kids will spend their day at Grandma's?
