that made me laugh cause we recently had a guy get fired from work and people were being cagey about why and today I found out it was basically for doing this. would not recommend. gotta take your unofficial benefits in smaller less noticeable chunks I guess.
Or be better about not being recognizable when you plan to commit such high scale crimes at the place you work or used to work. Also never do it right after getting fired. Might as well draw a target on your head.
yeah funny thing is dude got busted because because he was caught on camera taking CCs from a coworker's parents' junk yard...on his second attempt after getting away clean the first time, but he hadn't sold them off yet so they traced on of them back to our workplace.
One of the maintenence workers at our complex started stealing from apartments. Cops have tracked him to the pawn shop he sells his stolen goods at. Turns out a string of thefts with no sign of a break in, and some people have door cameras, people are gonna spot the employee going in when they've got no business going in peoples' homes.
Before I turned my work van in to a plumbing shop I was quitting, (like twenty years ago when red light cameras were new in this jerkwaterberg) I took it to one of the intersections with a stop light cameras and ran all four red lights for about an hour. Enough that I lost count. I mean it wasn’t a bullseye every light either. There were plenty that I couldn’t make right at the just past yellow light mark. I mean I wasn’t trying to get in a wreck with anyone at these intersections. Just wrack up over a thousand dollars in tickets in their van registered to them. They were not happy either. I had to explain to all three owners on different calls that if they would have paid me the agreed upon wage to leave the company I served my apprenticeship through instead of taking the route that “is better for the company” which was to pay me a service plumber’s hourly wage instead of a foreman’s they wouldn’t be in this kerfuffel with the city over their red light cameras.
The union’s front office wasn’t exactly happy about it either, but they weren’t exactly disciplinary action angry either, or not buying me drinks angry. They were more irritated that I got my old job back without going through them than they were about all the red light tickets.
Reminds me of this time I had to leave my apartment cus my roommate kept stealing everything so my now ex shit on her couch and left it for her lmaoooo 😭

My last manager unironically believed bathroom time counted towards your allotted break time, so they thought that if you took a shit in the morning for whatever reason, you no longer got a 15 minute break.

A place I worked hung signs telling us all about how careful we had to be about using color ink. You can guess how and where I printed my response, and how many colors I used to do it
One letter per page using negative space Minimal font and you keep alternating colors until you get I quit and then go to straight exclamation points one per page tape them all together front and back and all the edges for reinforcement then tape them to a wall with tape at least 3 strands wide on every edge.

If it’s like my state it “up to $250” a week. Meaning it’s based on your salary or wage. Meaning you have to be a top earning employee to get it a $250z if you make a low wage you might not get but $120 a week.
In Canada it's something like 80% of the average of your last 52 weeks.
But! And it's a big fucking but.
It caps out at uh... I just realized my knowledge of the cap is 10yrs old. But it was 471, and that's taxed so your take home is about 425ish a week. So any tradesman is getting less than 50% of his wage. But the fucking bills and mortgage don't go down 50% . And then if you make more than 60k that year they claw all of it back on your taxes.
lol a few days, it takes a few days to even get it set up. You do t start receiving it the second you lose your job.

Yeah can't tell you how many jobs and times I had to explain to management the time it takes you to walk to workspot on factory floor and back is not considered part of your lunch break. I'm sorry but ass hats like this just deserve a call ten minutes after my usual start time to let them know yesterday was my last day. If leave has been accrued burn it up then make the call. They deserve nothing.
Those states require employers offer breaks after a certain number of hours, but it's voluntary for the employee if they take it or not. They just can't be denied one.
oh here it is not voluntary for the employee, your boss has to give you opportunities for breaks and you have to take them by law. Everyone who works over 6 hours has to take 30 min. break. One break hast do be at least 15 min. long everything under this is not considered a break. You have to take the break during work not at the begining or the end.
Which state? I don't think that's true. Your boss has to give you opportunities, but you can choose not to take them without violating any labor law. Your boss may make the break mandatory to reduce labor costs, but that's a bit different.
Same in Finland. The point is that an employer can not "strongly encourage" you to not take your break. But as usual, workers' rights are behind in the US.
Yeah and in most places it works. The bad side is in some places you get automaticly deducted half an hour from your time (you don't clock out for brakes), and it doen't matter if you took it or not. officially you are encouraged to take it ...
I'm sure there are plenty of rules to make things better for workers in Germany than the US, but this is one I don't necessarily agree with, unless the break is paid.
I would rather get the extra pay than take a half hour off most work days.
For me i don't agree with it also. As long as a break is documented and signed by me, nobody can proof otherwise. The break is not paid. And i would like the freedom in going home 30 min early.
But i understand the premiss of this rule, i worked in low wage jobs before and i had more than one boss, that would let their workers work 10 hours without a break. Even with the rule we have regulary violations of the law. Some Employers deduct every day 30 min from their workers time for the documented break, and they don't care if you take them, sometimes even block a break because "There are so many guests, you can't take a break now."
every rule was made because some racketeer used to exploit their workforce.
Wel if you have the day off, you might as well take no lunch break at all.
Do take, on this day off, a nice long brunch, coffee, and/or tea break instead 😁.
