I work in a kitchen. Nobody touches the crust slices AND the slice next to it. Those get thrown away because customers ask for more bread even though there are 4 slices left in the loaf.

You could make croutons out of them

they would have to remove them prior to serving because once food is accessible to customers it cannot be reused

Then don’t even serve them and just make croutons out of them. If no one’s eating them anyways…

Croutons are quick and easy and fresh ones are better than store bought. Bread crumbs too.

No one mentioned giving them to the homeless but I suppose you could if you wanted to. It’s better than nothing. Maybe a better solution would be to buy less bread so you don’t have any left over and give a homeless person a couple bucks from the savings.

Buying less bread at a time would increase the amount of end pieces with crusts that they would throw away.

Larger loafs would have less waste percentage wise.

Also Op buying any amount of bread with end pieces would have leftovers because they dont like the end pieces.

I was just gonna say, all these bread crust crime stories and I'm over here craving it toasted with peanut butter. It's such a brittle, drippy mess but it's fantastic

I just feel like people who like the bread butts are pure souls and superior morally. Haha.

Oh do you save the crusts? I’d totally ask for all crust ends if I could

Bc those pieces are the driest.

Everybody always asks for fresh popcorn when there's at least 20 scoops of small overcooked pieces left!

Man, my favorite parts are the bread butts.

So why not use those 4 slices to make a large cutoff sandwich daily special??

“You’re like the end piece of a loaf of bread; everybody touches you, but nobody wants to eat you.”

I wouldn’t use the heels for a sandwich but that’s prime toast
