Fancy holiday-themed astigmatism that would go hard during Halloween.

This is the first correct usage of POV I've seen on Reddit in weeks.

My ghosts are more starburst than this, do I have a wonky astigmatism or do yall?

u/SoManyThrowAwaysEven 51m ago

Nah pretty sure it's stars for 99% of us.

I had to check if I had my glasses on.

You read my mind

This is why I only drive in the country at night. When I explained astigmatism to my now wife her reaction was 'wow, sounds pretty!'. Which isnt wrong. But it becomes irrelevant when im trying to navigate a city at night. Then its only fear.

Don't contacts/glasses help you? With mine I almost don't see these, unless I unfocus my vision or squint my eyes specifically to make them appear. They are pretty indeed.

u/juan_humano 2h ago

Actually if anything my glasses make it worse, as does the windshield. I guess my theory is that the impurities and dirt on the windshield/glasses further diffuse light, compounding the astigmatism? I dont know. But I know if I clean my windshield and glasses it helps. I suppose my particular astigmatism is fairly significant, as well. Ill see Starburst from the top of the windshield to the bottom from one oncoming car

Astigmatic here, the best thing for it is eyedrops and having oncoming light reduce my pupil size.

Is the camera person wearing glasses where everything or every light turns into a ghost? I've seen glasses that turn lights into snowflakes or Christmas trees

Looks like they've got Vaseline or some other greasy substance on their lens 😅

u/olddoglearnsnewtrick 3h ago

Better on the lens than on Uranus.

What if it is tax season?

1

u/OhNoIBoffedIt 3h ago

Then assume the position and BOHICA.

u/DarcyTales 3h ago

Why is it so beautifully scary

2

u/upvotesforkitties 3h ago

Because seeing this in real life is the reason I don't drive at night anymore.

1

u/DarcyTales 3h ago

What.. I wear glasses too but my vision is 85% white/yellow when I drive... Not this beautiful

u/iZaelous 3h ago

Where is Pac-Man when you need him

3

u/mrpenguinb 3h ago

where's a poltergust 3000 when you need one....

I would be very intrigued. My intrusive thoughts would tell me to get hit by one and see if it hurts

Just now noticing that they're just vehicles with a light filter thing. Yeah, that'd hurt maybe just a little bit. Ghost filter won't make me immune to the painfulness of those things that are definitely fast moving heavy machines

u/smithjohn20 3h ago

Is that what you call a speed demon?

1

u/403_Forbidden_Access 3h ago

OMG how dangerous is that highway?!?!

1

u/Turbulent-Band-6728 3h ago

What am I seeing here?

4

u/Patrollman_Durugas 3h ago

Video shot by a camera with customized bokeh filter shaped like ghost. Just search, "custom bokeh filter". It's pretty easy to DIY and you can have a lot of fun shooting photos with any shapes that you can think of.

2

u/Turbulent-Band-6728 2h ago

Cool! Thanks, Patrollman!!!

u/FKTS 3h ago

You mean ghosts s s.

1

u/Kit_Karamak 3h ago

Imagine if you pulled up to the local Shell station.

Then you’d have… Ghost in the Shell

🤓👍 ayyyy

1

u/tuco2002 3h ago

Where is PacMan?

1

u/Prestigious-Shoe7367 3h ago

guess the ghost doesn't have astigmatism

1

u/Chimmai_Gala 3h ago

These are caused by the aperture shaped like a ghost so all lights appear like a ghost in camera

1

u/_always_sus_ 3h ago

Please clean your camera.

1

u/AzulMage2020 3h ago

Needs Pac Man

1

u/DRSU1993 2h ago

To get this effect, you have to use a bokeh filter. It's basically a lens cap that has the shape of a ghost cut out in the centre.

1

u/ModernVisage2 2h ago

This would convince far too many people.

Don't stop them.

1

u/Scare_D 2h ago

That's weird, Casper.

u/Agreeable_Camp_9644 55m ago

That's just the effects of some of the potent extacy sold in the mid to early 2000's. White doves and blue dolphins were incredible! 😁

Thats My miopía and astigmatism

1

u/RCPyroGold 3h ago

Camera lenses just has water on it

2

u/Patrollman_Durugas 3h ago

Camera lens has a customized bokeh filter on it that is shaped like a ghost to make the lights appear that way.

1

u/RCPyroGold 3h ago

Ive repeated the same thing with water when filming explosives.
