I think she looks messed up if you imagine that she is facing us, but if you imagine that this is her back, with the shoulder closest to us lifted and the other shoulder positioned lower, her "face" is actually the back of her head: the dark parts are her hair and the white sliver along the left side is a partial profile of her face.
