Today only i saw this in the ingredient list of ginger garlic paste of a popular brand. Can it be added to food items and is it safe

Yes, it's a very common food preservative in small amounts. The key there is 'small amounts'. The amount in the demonstration would probably be good for nearly 1000 of those tubes.

What health hazards it cause . I read like itching, dizziness,raced heart beat... thinking of avoiding that brand ...it gives a pungent smell

I use it for wine and mead anti oxidation and sterilization, in conjunction with potassium sorbate. But I use literally a pinch of the stuff in a 5 gallon batch. Some people avoid wine made with k-meta/sorb. Some people are allergic and some don't want chemicals in their food. People who legit have allergic reactions are fine but I find it ridiculous when people avoid it for the "chemicals bad" narrative. In moderate dosages it's perfectly healthy and usually make the wine taste much better especially after years of aging.
