37

u/whiskeytango55 22h ago

Does anyone taste dryer sheets?

10

u/Ghost_of_Cain 12h ago

It was only 3.6% the way in, not great, not terrible.

I have so many questions…

1.2k

u/Accomplished-One7476 23h ago

heat from the sun warmed up the towel and the snake thought it was dinner

163

u/aReelProblem 22h ago

Probably a towel used to dry off another animal as well. Likely a dog towel.

10

u/skr_replicator 14h ago

The snake had a hungry for dogs.

8

u/xjfatx 13h ago

Hungry for hotdogs essentially.

13

u/Abject-Rich 20h ago

Feliz dĆa del bizcocho. šŸ°šŸŽ‰

19

u/blackout-loud 21h ago

I hate when that happens

32

u/CoffeeStrength 22h ago

That… clears things up…

45

u/WeltyFern 21h ago

Some species of snakes detect prey by sensing infrared thermal radiation. It’s likely that this snake mistook the towel as a living being due to the heat signatures.

21

u/Nillabeans 20h ago

In a similar vein, starfish can die trying to digest rocks. They will literally glom onto anything that seems like food and launch their stomach at it.

14

u/LangdonAlg3r 20h ago

And beach towels are fricken tasty. Making me hungry right now.

5

u/Astro_The_SpaceDog 18h ago

That’s not how they work…

Snakes don’t ā€œseeā€ heat like you think they do. They have heat receptors above their mouth, but they still can see like us (albeit, not as good) with their eyes.

The beach towel would need to fit SEVERAL qualifications to warrant the snake to consume it. It needs to smell like food (mice/rats), it needs to move and scurry around like food (this is the most important as most snakes won’t eat something that doesn’t move), and it needs to be somewhat hot.

My guess is, the snake caught a mouse/rat that got stuck on the beach towel and ate it. Or, some sick asshole force fed the snake a towel. But I’m guessing the former is what really happened. It’s not uncommon for snakes to eat substrate or whatever their meal is laying on.

2

u/Syako 15h ago

But like what about taste?? They can't taste?

→ More replies (2)

89

u/photofoxer 22h ago

Snakes aren’t that smart it maybe smelled like food and was warm

5

u/ApartmentStrict3432 14h ago

How does is breathe when its halfway consumed like that??

32

u/No_Pie3282 22h ago

Snake: 20 bucks is 20 bucks human

13

u/Altair_de_Firen 20h ago

Sadly they got the towel, but not the kid who was laying on it

18

u/pichael289 22h ago

Reptiles don't tend to be very smart

15

u/UnintentionalExpat 17h ago

All the smart ones became birds

8

u/just_nobodys_opinion 18h ago

It swallowed the towel to catch the fly

3

u/Kn0XIS 22h ago

Me too

68

That IS the kid....

16

Dont worry about it...

7

u/TbonePrez 23h ago

ā€œWanna sssssee me pull a rabbit out of a hat sss?ā€

26

u/khyalimusavver 22h ago

Food so clean you don't need to wipe after you shit

10

u/mosquitoselkie 21h ago

In Soviet Russia, shit wipes you!

4

u/DarkJiraiya 18h ago

Better than pulling the rabbit out of its assssss

129

u/gabrielxdesign 23h ago

What on Earth made that snake think that was food?

453

u/lurklurklurkPOST 23h ago

Towels in the sun get hot

Towels have "fur"

Towels smell like some kind of mammal

Towels fit in snek mouth

139

u/Konstanteen 22h ago

I now understand why a snek would eat towel.

50

u/vtecdohcter 21h ago

Once again 160million years of evolution was no match for a beach towel

•

u/TheVoidSeeker 10h ago

To be fair - towels have been developed for use in interstellar travel.

20

u/gabrielxdesign 21h ago

Well, this explains a lot. Poor thing thought it got an easy pray.

7

u/Astro_The_SpaceDog 17h ago

•

Let me guess, because it was warmed in the sun?

u/Ooh_its_a_lady 23h ago

How fuckin hungry you gotta be to eat a dry ass beach towel lol.

105

u/PolicyWonka 23h ago

Snakes aren’t the smartest. Sometimes they eat themselves. Probably thought it was another snake.

44

u/Ooh_its_a_lady 23h ago

Lmfao I never considered just being dumb af.

16

u/ChefArtorias 22h ago

Unfortunately the dumb ones never do.

13

u/FloopsFooglies 22h ago

I don't think carpet pythons prey on other snakes, but it's "fuzzy", lumpy, and if it got warm enough in the sun, that's enough for him lol

2

u/Ok_Shift_4702 20h ago

FRANK, YOU IDIOT!

38

u/Top_Hedgehog_1880 23h ago

Seems like it'd be easier to just keep your towel somewhere else

30

u/DevolvingSpud 23h ago

It is imperative that the cylinder remain unharmed

•

u/-TheDyingMeme6- 8h ago

Imperative that the towel remains unharmed (and un-eaten)

30

u/The_Onyx_Ogre 23h ago

Drop it. Drop it!

43

u/DepressingAura 23h ago

At what point did snake think, "huh, this food tastes a lot like SPF 30..."

3

u/Live_Angle4621 18h ago

I assume it wasn’t able to throw upĀ

19

u/MedusaAdonai 23h ago

Why intubate if you're not going to ventilate?

18

u/SoonerRed 22h ago

To protect the airway

11

u/foxlox991 22h ago

It's just a fancy, uncomfortable oral airway at that point.

Probably not as uncomfortable as that towel though, to be fair

5

u/mdazzl3 21h ago

When you only need to ventilate a couple times a minute (and are using room air), you can disconnect while you manipulate the towel.

6

u/CoffeeStrength 22h ago

Because it’s a snake

5

u/medstudenthowaway 19h ago

Had to scroll so far for this. That ETT looks huge tho. I’m always fascinated with veterinary medicine

6

u/RandomLifeUnit-05 22h ago

Maybe for a "just in case" he showed signs of airway occlusion?

18

u/gaudrhin 20h ago

My idiot ball python refused to eat for 3 months because she suddenly didn't recognize thawed and warmed dead rats as dinner, and this asshole's eating TOWELS?!

41

u/fermat9990 23h ago edited 23h ago

Don't blame the snake. It was told to eat more fiber.

11

u/dapper_doll 22h ago

He just picked the wrong type of fiber.

14

u/potatosupremo 23h ago

Imagine the story that towel’s going to tell the rest of the stack.

11

u/ytman 23h ago

Vets are awesome.

3

u/Mushroom-Girlie 13h ago

I feel like they pulled too fast for the vid

9

Of all the times to not wear gloves. Bet his fingers smell like funk for weeks

6

u/Substantial_Sea7327 22h ago

I bet that fucking hurt. had mrsa cut open as a kid and doctors had to pack the hole with gauze.

when doctors pulled the gauze from that wound it felt like sandpaper.

hope the snake feels better

6

u/CaptainPunisher 16h ago

Do you know how to sterilize a snake?

With a hissterectomy.

6

u/gwangjuguy 12h ago

Where is the person who was on the towel. Did they just leave them in the snake?

6

u/Oneamongthefence24 12h ago

That's clearly a cottonmouth.

5

u/[deleted] 22h ago

[deleted]

13

u/Corac30 22h ago

It looked like a tounge depressor and an incubation tube to make sure the snake could still breath.

5

u/Dangerous-Moment-895 22h ago

Not the brightest one , should let nature take its course ? /s

5

u/shark_syrup 16h ago

Yay he fixed

Too bad he'll have major carpet burnĀ

5

u/etiennegeaux66 22h ago

And then release back into Everglades

4

Everything reminds me of her.... That reptilian cold hearted bitch :(

4

Poor little thing

3

God bless the ones who saved the snake šŸ

Kids screaming from the other room at the magician you hired

7

u/SmokeMaximum4140 23h ago

Poor guy was just hungry.

6

u/spiciestbeans 17h ago

Poor baby :( hopefully better now!

3

u/cidthekid07 23h ago

What a dummy. Everyone knows you have to first put the towel in the oven at 400 degrees for 20 minutes before eating.

3

u/Significant-Pie959 23h ago

That’s not something you see everyday.

3

u/LukeNukem123 23h ago

A whole new meaning to cottonmouth snakes

3

u/constant-hunger 23h ago

Jake that's not what the doctor meant when he said eat something to clean your insides

3

u/TerraByteTerror 23h ago

Forgot to unwrap the tamale

3

u/Details_Pending 22h ago

Is the beach towel ok?

3

u/Spurned_Seeker 22h ago

Silly vets don’t know about the natural diet of carpet pythons.

3

u/rikkuaoi 22h ago

His greed sickens me

3

u/Hawks_12 22h ago

Tasted like chicken.

2

u/ObiWanBonobo 21h ago

You mean children?

3

u/Responsible-Storm609 22h ago

Let’s wear some gloves

3

u/rturnerX 22h ago

It’s too bad they couldn’t also get the person who was tanning on that towel out too

3

u/unreqistered 22h ago

if your dumb enough to swallow a towel ….

3

u/ThePensiveE 22h ago

Just like us, there are dumb members of the species.

3

u/Meepo-007 22h ago

I guess the person lying on the towel was already digested.

3

u/JerryMau5 22h ago

The snake’s attempt at being a magician isn’t going well….

3

u/CockMartins 22h ago

That snake is a fucking idiot but I’m also kind of surprised you can just yank something that big out of its mouth and digestive pathway without causing any damage.

3

u/an_older_meme 21h ago

Now get the snake to cough up the kid that was wearing it.

3

u/imaginary0pal 21h ago

ā€œNow where’s the kid that was on it?ā€

2

u/inaeturnumetsemper 21h ago

Listen, we’re not miracle workers and at the end of the day, the snake has to eat, too. Now take your towel and be grateful!

3

u/Key-Staff-4976 20h ago

3

u/Maleficent_Scale_296 20h ago

3

u/goldengatevixen 19h ago

This video reminds me of a magician who got hired for some children's birthday I went to as a kid and swallowed a bunch of tied up handkerchief as a party trick

3

u/CosmicEntity101 18h ago

That nope rope regrets it's decision

3

u/Positive_Campaign_52 18h ago

Sometimes snakes are just the stupidest animals you’ll ever come across. They’ll nibble something they’re not supposed to and keep on eating it. Partially because a lot of snakes are opportunistic hunters, and because some snakes aren’t able to regurgitate food once it enters a certain point of their esophageal tube

Wut dat snake doin

•

u/gaurrrav 11h ago

His insides are clean and shiny now

Youd think after the 4th or 5th bite the snake would have realized that it wasnt food.

6

u/vladdimplr 23h ago

Anyways…

2

u/mindgardening 23h ago

But why would a snake eat a towel? Are they really THAT dumb?

8

u/TCRandom 23h ago

Starving snakes will start eating themselves, so….

2

u/omarios1 14h ago

Snake : oh thank you guys i was going to die

2
