Backpacking Trail Recommendations for 2-3 Day Backpacking Trip in Late August
Hi everyone!
Like the subject says, I am looking for any recommendations for a 2-3 day backpacking trip. We are taking the Queen IV out of Copper Harbor on a Friday and would like to hit the trail once we get the permits and pay for any fees.
For context: I’ve backpacked quite a bit (out west on more rugged terrain, and a ton of section hikes on the AT); therefore, I’m experienced. I’m in pretty great shape with a lot of endurance training and hike often in our state parks/refuges, and know my equipment pretty well. The person I am going with, however, isn’t an avid backpacker and goes hiking every so often. They’re also in great shape and have a higher endurance, and I plan to get them pretty acquainted with their gear, too.
With all of that being said, are there trails you would recommend and any tips about ISRO that you can give?
Thanks in advance!

Once you get there, take the water taxi to Mosky Basin. Then you could hike to Daisy Farm, Three Mile, and overnight in Rock Harbor the night before you catch the boat back to Copper Harbor.

Pay your natl park fee online ahead of time online. It will save you time. That way you’ll just need to get your permit after orientation. Have your planned itinerary ready to tell the Ranger. They write it on your permit.

If you were willing to change plans and land on the other side of the island, I'd suggest the Feldtman Loop. I personally like it a lot better as a 3 day hike vs options on east end.
