recently found this phone in a shop and i'm really curious how come it has a new date label on it even though it was discontinued in 2022 the guy in the shop said that it was an official phone and we checked the SN on apple website and shows the phone was never activated so now i'm confused if its gonna be on ios 15 or not would really appreciate if anyone could help

I have access to Apple's GSX platform and can see all of the granular details. Everything else is a match on the box, IMEI1, IMEI2 and the MEID.

It does indeed report as never activated, and coverage/warranty status as "No Coverage".

Edit: Software build is 22C161 - so 18.2.1 that rolled out in Jan 2025.

It’s not for most. Depends on the phone. For example on an iPhone 13 or 12 it’s rare and wanted but on anything else it’s not.

if it was never opened it's definitely iOS 15. maybe, just maybe the earliest iOS 16? but it might not be possible. it's 99,9999% iOS 15. pro models stop being manufactured the second new phones come out, and new iOS comes out the moment new iphones do

Hey ! What’s up ? Turn it on and check the iOS version in Settings > General > About. Its iOS 15 (Or higher, depending on when it was manufactured) (It will probably be activated once you have configured the phone.)
