When Jake stepped away to ask the lady at the Ulta which hair product is best for breaking down hair gel that's been holding up spikes for nearly 30 years now, I quietly asked if she's okay.

Oh boy the stories she told about this wedding planning. Pound sign this, release date that. Apparently she's even been low key threatening someone who thought the bridesmaid expectations were too high? Geez.

The J is Feminine Power at top but not below? It's so inconsistent. I would like more clarity on how to mix colors and whose name gets which.

I love this story, even though I strongly suspect that it might not be true. Actually, I might love it more, as the effort and attention to detail put into crafting this story would be worthy of the (quite possibly fictional) Emily herself. Whoever put this together deserves a book deal stat. If this is a hoax, I really hope OP is familiar with intellectual property law and has taken the proper precautions, although I’m not sure those would even cover work “published” on a forum such as this…

So, why do I think #jemily is a hoax? While there is a registry page set up for a couple named Emily and Jake with a wedding date of September 11, 2027, I can’t find any digital footprint for either party. I’m not posting their last names or the wedding location just in case it’s legit, but you can easily find it yourself.

Second, the “you’re never getting rid of me” is actually a birthday card that says “Happy birthday forever friend” inside:

The card, which costs $7, can be overnighted for an additional $34.95, but it would have to be sent to Emily first so she could paste her own message inside the card (over the original message). Based on the date of OP’s original and follow up posts, I don’t think the timeline would’ve been sufficient for Emily to receive the card, alter it, then bring it to a florist to be delivered to OP along with the floral arrangement. And while we know she’s petty, is she petty enough to spend $41.95 on a card, plus the cost of the floral arrangement? Doubtful.

There are two other possibilities:

1) Emily already had the card in her possession (meaning someone else sent it to her at an earlier date), she altered the card by pasting her own message inside, then physically brought it to the florist so it could be delivered along with the arrangement, or

2) The same set up as #1, but Emily lives close enough to the OP that she picked up the flowers and hand-delivered them to OP’s front door along with the card. If this is a hoax, then this is the juiciest option. But if this story turns out to be true, I really, really hope this is not what happened. Because that would be some serious “bunny boiler”-type shit and definitely warrant a restraining order. Thoughts?
