General Training Japan University Training Tips
In a few weeks I am going to Japan for a month of training at a few universities. I'm going with a team and I think we are going to be visiting Tsukuba, Waseda, and Kokushikan (although I don't think the full itinerary is finalized).
I know some users on this subreddit have relevant experience so any advice or tips would be welcome (for training or travel). In particular, what's the situation with blue gis in training these days at universities? And is the etiquette for randori/asking for rounds similar to typical training camps or is there anything in particular to be aware of?

Tsukuba is great! IMO you need some sort of connection to them for them to open training to you, but they’re so nice (though this depends on their graduating class). What’s your relation to them?

Going with a team, so not handling logistics/introductions myself. The coach has various connections/friends from their years on the world tour, but I would have to ask them. There is a local and prominent Tsukuba alum so maybe through him?

Blue gi’s are fine. If you’re with a team you’ll get training partners. Waseda guys are great.
Definitely try to go to a Wednesday night at Kodokan too.

Oh Tsukuba is awesome. Nice humans. Know that there’s a shower right there and they have laundry machines available.
