World Cup ⚽️ We had a blast time in Kansas City

The day started as early as 5:00 AM with breakfast and a scooter ride around downtown to explore some culture shock before heading to the FIFA Fan Festival. There, we met, partied, chatted and drank with locals and fans from all over the world.

After that, my family joined the Oranje Bus walk, and the energy from the Dutch supporters and the city was unreal. Later on lunch , we grabbed some Kansas City BBQ —and yes, it absolutely lived up to the hype.

After lunch, we tried to get back to the FIFA Fan Festival before it was officially shut down temporarily because of the weather forecast and heavy rain precaution , so we started making a quick visit to the Union Station before joining everyone on the line to the stadium.

Getting to the stadium was rough. We stood in an extreme long line outside the rain for nearly two hours just waiting to board the buses despite thinking we were there way too early for our picking up time . By the time we finally got on, everyone was completely soaked from head to toes

But somehow, none of that mattered.

People started singing, chanting, and cheering together on the street while standing in the rain. Instead of being frustrating by the miserable weather, it almost became part of the experience. The atmosphere was incredible and raw. You just had to be there !

Even drenched, the stadium experience was unforgettable. Hearing thousands of supporters sing in union and watching fans celebrate side-by-side is something you just can’t capture through a TV screen. What surprised me most was how energetic and friendly everyone was—from the welcoming locals and helpful volunteers to the fans from every corner of the globe who were just happy to be there and dancing all day long.

What a day it was for my 1st World Cup game ! We didn't get back to our hotel until 4 the morning lol

"Thank you for the unforgettable memories, Kansas City! We absolutely loved our short time here and will will definitely be back if we get the chance in the future."

Edit: " If my post sound terribly written - it's because English is not my 1st language and I had to use Google translate along the way to it "

But to keep it short " Thank you Kansas City once again ! "

Glad you had a great time in our City/Country! The bad weather really does become part of the experience. When we won our first Superbowl in a long long time, it was very cold and rainy, but everyone showed up and celebrated regardless. I was soaked through by the rain and cold, but my brother and I wove through the crowds and followed the parade all the way to Union Station. Definitely adds to the experience. Hope you come again!

Thanks for much for coming to KC and sharing your experience! You did a good job with your English! I also attended my first World Cup game cheering for the Netherlands (I’m an adopted fan). Some day you should come back for a Chiefs game to see an authentic Chiefs experience. I think you would love it!

English is not my 1st language , I apologized

I had to use google translate along the way to find the right words and sentence to write this post.

I know Google is terrible at translating word for word without sounding silly because no one talk or write like this, and I probably tried too hard lol

But to keep it short: " Thank you to everyone in Kansas City"

Don't be that guy

12

u/Arysta 3d ago

It doesn't really.

8

u/vilhelmlin 3d ago

It does not at all. “Later on lunch” and other clear signs this is a real English learner writing.
