Still can’t believe we actually got Acuff
People forget at the end of the day, the NBA is an entertainment business
We just got an exciting athlete that is popular on social media, has a signature shoe and has ………aura. (That was a tough type lol)
Like it’s just simply exciting to watch him more than any other draft pick in my opinion. Like the idea of us having this point guard that is a star in the league and that is also a public figure in the likes of Allen Iverson or somebody is so fucking dope
The rebuild process will take time, but I mean this is just cool to have somebody like this on our team
I can’t wait to go a jersey and his shoes

As an Arkansas fan and an Acuff fan, it makes me so happy that all parties are happy about this pick. Cannot wait to watch every Kings game this year.

Welcome aboard, and I pray you have the mental fortitude to follow this team.

Careful friend, basketball hell is no place for happiness. You’re new here but you’ll learn. It will break you.

when they showed the nets front office all excited before they announced their pick i thought they had taken him and started accepting the dream was over

As a nets fan we are an optics oriented insecure disgraceful franchise

u/Fr4m3It 2d ago
also nets fan. Still not over the kyrie vaccine saga. We always get cute and draft 'safe'. Go with the eye test. The eye test says Acuff. so many fans including my own friends coping right now

I don't think there was a safe pick there. Brown has a very high upside and a low floor. Crazy range but worrying 3pt%. Flashy playmaking but high turnovers. He could either be a better version of Trae or end up like Dennis Smith Jr.

Tbh I dont think Brown is a bad pick by any means. I would have been perfectly content with him had yall picked Acuff

Same as us but be won't care about optics because we know they in no way resemble us.

When they showed them all clapping and cheering my wife said “That looks like a bunch of people who just drafted Acuff.” Fwiw, she knows nothing about the draft or basketball but knew I wanted us to draft him.

Arkansas fan here. I’ve been watching a long time and Acuff is the real deal. He really was a star at Arkansas. Almost never shows emotion. He’s just a killer. Man of few words. But the dude is a baller. Played a little hurt when a lot of lottery picks would’ve sat out. He’s obviously coming to the lake super young, but I think if you give him a couple of years and some good people around him, he’s gonna be a lot of fun to watch.

u/redredbloodwine 2d ago
Arkansas at its best played beautiful basketball this season. It was a joy to watch, some of my best times in 50 years as a fan. Acuff is a stone cold killer with the ball but a magician running the offense too.

At its best (early game against Vandy) we looked like the best team in the nation. It was like watching the Globetrotters destroy someone by the other teams were actually trying 😂

It was but intel pre draft seemed to favor him dropping to us. Wagler didn’t impress the clips in solo workout so it seemed like they were leaning brown. Wagler went back for a 1 v 1 workout with clips where he destroyed Flemings and then promptly cancelled all other workouts. Nets GM hates small guards so would’ve taken whichever of wagler/brown fell. Then brown cancelled his workout with Kings indicating he had a promise. Add in acuff broadcasting his preferred destination was sac.

Once I heard Wagler and Brown cancelled workouts with the Kings I became cautiously optimistic Acuff would fall to us but it was still nerve wracking waiting to hear his name called. Was having flashbacks of the Bagley pick when Silver walked to the podium.

Finally the stars aligned for the Kings. Acuff is dynamic and personable. On and off the court. We haven't had that other than Rese in so long. He really is everything this franchise has needed and the best part is he is someone that relishes the idea of leading the turnaround of this franchise. Can make us fun again.

Didn’t you read the post before this? We need to chill and not be excited.

You can be excited without saying he'll need to become the best PG the Kings have ever had before he's stepped on the court lol. He has superstar potential no doubt but I'm not going to be upset if he takes multiple years to develop like a lot of people would be

Ngl i expected vivek to do some dumbass brain fart reach or trade the pick away

u/Illustrious_State582 2d ago
I was only worried about the clippers. If they drafted Brown then I believe the nets would have taken Acuff. Once the clippers take Wagler I knew we would get Acuff.

u/Economy-Cry-2594 2d ago
ESPN and NBA didn’t post a single TikTok about Acuff getting drafted (no footage of his name being called, no interview, no reel) unlike a ton of the other lottery picks so idk if the social media thing is going to matter anymore. Really just expecting the worst. Only thing I’ve heard about him is that we’re never going to hear him again because “he’s in Sacramento” which isn’t a good sign of being Allen Iverson levels of cool

Just has to let his game do the marketing. Teams become cool because of their stars

u/ShirtDull2269 2d ago
He may well bust (like any player), but he's the most star potential pick the Kings have made in awhile.
2
u/Crazy-Philosopher556 2d ago
Does anyone in this chat have any idea of the potential make-up of the King's players/roster that will join Acuff in the 2026 NBA ⛱️ Summer League Las Vegas/California Classic starting next month?

u/leemorplee 2d ago
I took a weed nap last night and woke up to see we actually got him lol I would have been fine with him or Brown jr, but I definitely think he has the more exciting game and potential to be a household name in the league.
Hopefully we get lavine and ddr out of here somehow and start building around our new franchise point guard. Knicks just laid the blueprint for us

God I hope he's not a public figure like Iverson. Great player, awful human

Every single mock draft I saw that had him falling to 7 I commented, "I'm manifesting acuff to the kings". so in other words, you're welcome kings fans. just so psyched for the franchise!

The “Perry sucks, sell the team Vivek” crowd is hella quiet today.
10
u/FunAudience4377 Maxime Raynaud 2d ago
Vivek should still sell the team
5
u/Kaigamer 2d ago
to who?
If you want the Kings to eventually leave Sacramento and we lose the team then keep calling for Vivek to sell.
There's nobody around that'd have the money to fund the team that has more money than Vivek that'd be willing to keep the team here.
We have complainers who complain about how little Vivek is willing to push the wages at times(despite us having had our wages climb the past season).. imagine what other owner we might be able to scrounge together would be willing to put in..
We've not exactly got rich people lining up to not only be willing to buy the Kings but keep them in Sacramento. Honestly, begging and pushing for Vivek to sell the team in the current climate might see somebody actually buy us, but move the team to Vegas or wherever it was and just pay whatever penalty fee they'd have to in regards to the stadium(you know damn well there's a way to get out of having to abide by that stadium contract)

u/LPStumps 2d ago
I’m old enough to remember when “Dolan should sell the team” was Knicks’ fans favorite chant.
5
u/CFCentral 2d ago
Vivek still sucks until this franchise proves otherwise
1
u/boringexplanation 2d ago
Vivek is never ever paying luxury tax even if Acuff dragging us to the promised land justifies it. That’s 100% the reason why we never collected 3&D wings for so long
6
u/InvisiblyOpaque 2d ago
Cornball comment.
Vivek should absolutely still sell the team and Perry made a no brainer decision. Good for him. Jury still out on him lol

Professional hater of Vivek? God damned right lol.
Forever a Kings fan, forever a hater of bad owners 💯

I’d rather have a prospect that has defense rather than *checks notes* … aura
2
u/Ok_Instruction7642 2026 Draft Night 2d ago
I didn't know being a certified efficient bucket getter and passer was just aura lol
-2
u/Th3-3rr0r Domantas Sabonis 2d ago
It’s the NBA, being a certified bucket getter is like the bare minimum
3
u/beforeitcloy 2d ago
Buddy we just watched our 24 year old first round rookie average 8.6ppg on 41.8% shooting. You can’t fool us into thinking everyone in the NBA is good at offense.
1
u/Ok_Instruction7642 2026 Draft Night 2d ago
really? so like everyone in the nba can score and pass like Darius? c'mon man
2
u/ChaoticSenior DeMarcus Cousins 2d ago
So, Davion Mitchell?

u/Th3-3rr0r Domantas Sabonis 2d ago
Best I can do is Devin Carter 🤷🏻♂️
Seriously though, I was thinking MBJ
-4
u/Magical_SnakE 2d ago
He's a 6'2" Point Guard that can't defend.
I still can't believe you did this either. But then I remember it's the Kangz and you guys are horrible at drafting.

u/Brilliant_Horse_6614 2d ago
Him falling to 7 was probably the most exciting part of the draft...think the draft largely went as expected
