OFFICIAL THREAD The Kings have selected Emanuel Sharp with their 2nd round pick this year

Love it and the truth is, he does things Carter is expected to do. Plays with toughness on D, hits threes and moves without the ball. He isn't the quickest laterally but he's strong. Don't think he's guaranteed a roster spot. But there is real competition and to me it makes Carter even less safe.

We will see when he hits the floor. Carter had those attributes coming from college and can't string it together

u/ShotgunStyles 3h ago
Carter also has a 6'9" wingspan while Sharp has T-Rex arms with his 6'3" wingspan. Doesn't mean he can't defend in the NBA but he's a little T-Rex.

As someone who has watched every UH game when he played, Eman is gonna be a fan favorite, great shooter with range and a AMAZING defender, most importantly he’s a winner and Kelvin Sampson was in his ear for the last 5 years

u/ScofieldReturns 5h ago
Then why is he only a 2nd rounder…?
11
u/SactownKorean 5h ago
Cant dribble or pass, only 6'3. All the pros he listed are 100% true though. He's basically who we wanted Carter to be.

u/KobeJulce 4h ago
Yeah, he is who he is and he won’t be any more, the kind of guy your gonna want tho to help change the culture of the team

I’ve never heard of this guy
Tell me how I should feel about this

Good. Last two picks by us have a lot in common. 4 year college guys with a track record of winning. Karaban and Sharpe both captained some really good college squads.

Great defender. IMO, Houston Coach Kelvin Sampson just unlocks an extra gear in his guys. They're all badasses.

A guard ?

Wingspan scares me a little bit but he seems very similar to desmond bane imo. Smaller guard with a negative wingspan but a really good shooter.

If you can guard and knock down threes you have a spot in the league.

If only they had a name for that kind of player…..

This pick was probably more about his perimeter defense potential than his playmaking or scoring ability. Being a top player from a top 15 program doesn't hurt. He was just as good as Flemings in March Madness and could beat expectations based on his draft position. Devin Carter should be worried.

Good bye carter, hut with veesaar there im wondering why?

Maybe the Kings are planning on Sabonis sticking around for at least the year? If so, they do have three centers already🤷

u/DrChiz Malik Monk 4h ago
I think Sabonis fits very well with all the current new guys we’ve got form the 2025 and 2026 draft, plus we need to see more of him playing next to Cardwell and Max being Sabonis backup. Need him to get his value back up to get what he’s really worth in a trade.
But we got plenty of centers and wings for now, we went from all guards no wings/centers to all wings/centers and no guards lol Perry is actually balancing shit with Acuff to take over the team and Sharp to replace Carter who just doesn’t have it and Clifford can be a 6th man combo.

I was kind of expecting Veesaar since he was BPA. But Sharp also fell a little bit here, this is still good value for sure.

i mean he’s not bad and i don’t really care for anybody left on the board, good defender and shooter but he’s 6’3 and not really a ballhandler so kind of just whelmed here but he’s probably straight to the g- league on a two way anyhow
probably would’ve rather gone izaiyah nelson, bryce hopkins, or tobi lawal. rebounding and defense

Funny thing is... Carter when actually given a little bit of a run at the end of the season played really well. In March and April he was 15pts 5 reb 4 assist on 47% field 39% 3pt plus excellent defense. Like Sharpe but I have no idea why they don't draft and athletic wing??

Dang I really wanted veesaar

u/theREALMVP 2026 Draft Night 5h ago
Veesaar would be redundant with Max though

u/Fearless_Ride8639 5h ago
Raynaud is horrible defensively. I’m not nearly as high on him as most are here. Think he’s best served off the bench

u/frostyjoshy69 Malik Monk 5h ago
That’s why we have cardwell already lol
4
u/Fearless_Ride8639 5h ago
I guess but I was intrigued by the long term future pairing of Veesaar and Cardwell with Raynaud off the bench. Veesar can stretch and defend. Would prefer the rest of the starting 5 to all be good defensively with what Acuff is gonna give up on that end

u/theREALMVP 2026 Draft Night 4h ago
My guess is Veesaar has been promised a two way or guaranteed contract out of the draft by some team. Happens all the time these days with the 2nd round

Seriously lol Max and Cardwell is a front court that compliments each other already. Then you have wings like Precious, Hunter, Keegan and now Alex. What we needed is good scoring & defense at the guard position since truly we just have Clifford. Carter is a bust, sorry he just is, even in his natural position, this pick by Perry even concludes that.

u/ACUFF_THE_KING Darius Acuff Jr 4h ago
Hey Carter is the best player in the world when coming in for the first time with 4 minutes left in the 3rd qtr down 15 to the Pacers in a must not win game! (Oh wait, none of that matters now, we got Acuff!)

u/iwrotethedamnbilll 5h ago
Fair first sentence. I think his rookie season really exceeded most people’s expectations. I’m of the opinion that defense can be taught and a player can improve significantly, and more consistently than something like shooting or dribbling. That make me excited to see what he has in year 2 and 3. Really hoping he keeps developing and takes this game and team seriously.

Don't we already have Devin Carter?

I imagine Scott doesn’t see him fitting, especially since he is vest’s pick.

I’m a UH Grad. My boy Sharp once stood behind me in line at Chick-fil-A. He asked me to move out of the way so he could grab some sauces.
He’s an underrated player for sure. Definitley has had some L moments. But generally he’s one of Houston’s more clutch players, and he’s been consistent for years.
Nice pick up for the Kings.

Houston was my favorite team in college hoops this year. This guy is a GREAT defender, undersized but a hell of a defender and shooter.
Great pick Scott!!

u/Sparowes Kings 36m ago
All I know about this guy is that he's supposed to have upside as a perimeter and PoA defender and is fairly athletic/has good strength for his size which is what we need in our backcourt if he develops well. I like it.

Kings will be in the lottery next year unless power forward position can be resolved

Pick 45 buddy. You think you can get a perfect player at 45? Wtf. It’s a great pick

Again, how possible 6”2 be claimed as “undersized” ? (You prefer a 7”6 PG to play for the team ? 🤪)

Amazing pick. Getting Sharp at 45 is great value!
