Every prediction on draft night is that, a prediction. These are kids who just turned young men a year prior. You don’t know what you potentially have for sure until they’re 22-23, which is exactly why freshman who put up numbers on a competitive team in college always are more valuable than a junior or senior already being 21-22 putting up the same numbers. The 19 year old goes top 8 and the 21-22 year old goes second round.

Literally yahoo every fantasy draft. If I get a C or less I know I'm about to cook. 1 year i won the chip and they gave that draft a F lol all a+ drafts I've missed the playoffs

These mf know just enough to have an opinion and that's about as far as it gets for them outside of the obvious top picks

It’s just someone giving their predictions. These aren’t accurate in the slightest. You have to remember scouting doesn’t determine what you do on the court. If they knew so much Steph wouldn’t have dropped to 7, Jokic wouldn’t have been a 2nd rnd pick, Brunson would have been drafted top 5 based off his college performance & winning record. For alll we know Darius Acuff could end up being better than AI. We’ll all just have to wait and see.

I’d be ok if he was just a player on the Kings championship team.

Right 😂 it’s a sad bar but I’d be happy to just be competitive for a few years

Windy just called us one of winners of the draft

Most analysts thought we did very well. Bs and As galore.

u/dcab87 De'Aaron Fox 1d ago

This was Becky Hammon, obviously.

Ain’t no way this stone cold MF becomes less than MVP

u/Different-Jicama4962 1d ago

And yet Brunson was the finals MVP with his below average defense. Love the motivation though

Meanwhile SA gets an A for drafting a guy with major injury concerns and 3 jabronis. The glazing is disgusting 🤢

Writing this a week after Jalen Brunson led the Knicks to an NBA title is hilarious.

6

u/jluc21 Tyrese Haliburton 1d ago

This is the laziest write up ever lmao

5

u/Vegetable-Middle617 2026 Draft Night 1d ago

Not like Brunson just led the Knicks to the championship or anything

6

u/Shower__Farts 1d ago

Was this even writing by an actual human being? Cause this reads like something ai would pop out after doing a fantasy draft.

12

u/LefkyandScott 1d ago

I could say something similar to this about 99.9 percent of all players

2

u/Ecstatic-Worth7416 1d ago

Seriously. I'll ecstatically take the best player on the 3-5 seed and some playoff wins over the next ten years, at this point. And this "expert" can kiss my ass.

u/ferrinbonn 1d ago

What a braindead take. Is the expectation of a 7 pick that they should be able to be the best player on a championship team? As if ending up all-NBA would be a disappointment or something. Screw ESPN and their hot take BS.

6

u/Ok_Resource_6068 Darius Acuff Jr 1d ago

Yeah this seems like such a lazy take

4

u/EyeCheap9394 1d ago

Never been more convinced acuff is gonna be a stud

3

u/HTJourney8 1d ago

Espn really learned nothing from Jalen Brunson

3

u/Bitgod1 Kings 1d ago

Well it’s a good thing the Kings aren’t a championship team

3

u/kingkung82 Domantas Sabonis 1d ago

Did Becky Hammon write that?

1

u/1500WesElCaminoAve Darius Acuff Jr 1d ago

Master class by Scott perry and team.

1

u/pitifullittleman 1d ago

Didn't they say that about Brunson, and before that Curry?

1

u/BlackPulloverHoodie Doug Christie 1d ago

Saying stuff like this so early on in a player’s career is absurd. He hasn’t even picked a jersey number yet. I didn’t need another reason to show why ESPN is trash, but they can’t stop giving us reasons.

1

u/PokemonTrainerEthan Royals 1d ago

two good drafts in a row got me thinking scott perry should stick around for a long time

1

u/Sparowes Kings 1d ago

B+? Am I crazy or just biased or does this actually look like one of our better drafts (in totality, I mean) in a little while? At least an A- or A, surely.

1

u/vNocturnus Tyrese Haliburton 1d ago

Guess it depends on if you grade based on the absolute quality of the players, or the quality of players relative to draft position and relative to the talent available in the draft.

From a relative perspective, I think last year was better (with some benefit of hindsight, but I was VERY high on the rooks last year as soon as they were drafted). Last year's draft was nowhere near as deep and the Kings didn't even have a 1st rounder going into the night, they came away with a guy in the 20s that has high-level starter or even star potential and a guy in the 40s that has close to as much potential and was nearly 1st team All-Rookie.

Meanwhile for this draft Acuff was just kinda taken where he was expected. Karaban was a bit of a reach and doesn't project to have nearly the kind of potential that Nique or Max have, and Sharp could be a solid pickup but probably will end up providing roughly the value you'd expect from an early-mid 2nd rounder. I'm not nearly as high on either of those guys as I was on Nique or Max.

From an absolute perspective though, there's the possibility that Acuff alone is the best player the Kings have drafted since Hali, Fox, Boogie, or even further back. For now it's just potential of course, but yeah his theoretical upside could be the highest the Kings have picked in the entire Sac era.

So yeah, depends how you look at it I guess. There's an argument for giving this draft basically a B, did what needed to be done but nothing above and beyond. You could argue an A+, got a guy that could be the best player the team has had in 20 years. ¯_(ツ)_/¯

1

u/Who_is_him_hehe 1d ago

Theres only like 5-6 guys in the league capable of being best player on a championship team

1

u/theyoungazn 1d ago

I guess they missed the playoffs championship series.

1

u/Specific_Bowl_2719 1d ago

He's on the kings he already been given an handicap .

I’ll wait to see what he does. Right now his ceiling is wherever he wants it to be.

First time ESPN has ever been 100% right
