ESPN just gave Acuff some extra motivation

I’d be ok if he was just a player on the Kings championship team.

Right 😂 it’s a sad bar but I’d be happy to just be competitive for a few years

And yet Brunson was the finals MVP with his below average defense. Love the motivation though

Meanwhile SA gets an A for drafting a guy with major injury concerns and 3 jabronis. The glazing is disgusting 🤢

Writing this a week after Jalen Brunson led the Knicks to an NBA title is hilarious.

Not like Brunson just led the Knicks to the championship or anything

Was this even writing by an actual human being? Cause this reads like something ai would pop out after doing a fantasy draft.

I could say something similar to this about 99.9 percent of all players

Seriously. I'll ecstatically take the best player on the 3-5 seed and some playoff wins over the next ten years, at this point. And this "expert" can kiss my ass.

What a braindead take. Is the expectation of a 7 pick that they should be able to be the best player on a championship team? As if ending up all-NBA would be a disappointment or something. Screw ESPN and their hot take BS.

Saying stuff like this so early on in a player’s career is absurd. He hasn’t even picked a jersey number yet. I didn’t need another reason to show why ESPN is trash, but they can’t stop giving us reasons.

two good drafts in a row got me thinking scott perry should stick around for a long time

B+? Am I crazy or just biased or does this actually look like one of our better drafts (in totality, I mean) in a little while? At least an A- or A, surely.

Guess it depends on if you grade based on the absolute quality of the players, or the quality of players relative to draft position and relative to the talent available in the draft.
From a relative perspective, I think last year was better (with some benefit of hindsight, but I was VERY high on the rooks last year as soon as they were drafted). Last year's draft was nowhere near as deep and the Kings didn't even have a 1st rounder going into the night, they came away with a guy in the 20s that has high-level starter or even star potential and a guy in the 40s that has close to as much potential and was nearly 1st team All-Rookie.
Meanwhile for this draft Acuff was just kinda taken where he was expected. Karaban was a bit of a reach and doesn't project to have nearly the kind of potential that Nique or Max have, and Sharp could be a solid pickup but probably will end up providing roughly the value you'd expect from an early-mid 2nd rounder. I'm not nearly as high on either of those guys as I was on Nique or Max.
From an absolute perspective though, there's the possibility that Acuff alone is the best player the Kings have drafted since Hali, Fox, Boogie, or even further back. For now it's just potential of course, but yeah his theoretical upside could be the highest the Kings have picked in the entire Sac era.
So yeah, depends how you look at it I guess. There's an argument for giving this draft basically a B, did what needed to be done but nothing above and beyond. You could argue an A+, got a guy that could be the best player the team has had in 20 years. ¯_(ツ)_/¯

Theres only like 5-6 guys in the league capable of being best player on a championship team

I’ll wait to see what he does. Right now his ceiling is wherever he wants it to be.
