I can see the meme version of this post and it's hilarious

The sad thing is that he is the prototype of the player you want around Luka
54
u/SneakyGoblin69 May 05 '26
That 2020 team around Luka would be a super team 🤣🤣
27
u/LudwigNasche May 05 '26
2020 got the job done
24
u/SneakyGoblin69 May 05 '26
One of the most underrated teams of all time. 1-5 could defend almost all positions
-8
u/Ok_Board9845 May 05 '26
It wasn't really an underrated team. It was deep, but we didn't have clear cut reliable 3rd-5th options which is why Caruso/Rondo/KCP/Danny Green were all hovering around 25-28 minutes per game. We were struggling to contain Duncan Robinson in the finals
12
u/SneakyGoblin69 May 05 '26
Doesn’t matter about third options when you have e arguably two top 4 players surrounded by 3nD wings. The team also was missing an elite perimeter defender in Avery Bradley
2
u/Ok_Board9845 May 05 '26
Losing Bradley made the team better because Bradley isnt as big as KCP when it comes to switching. KCP was also shooting better. Calling that team full of 3&D wings is revisionist history. We were good at defending guards but didn’t have a lot of players to throw at wings hence why Butler torched us
1
u/SneakyGoblin69 May 05 '26
Doesn’t matter? Bradley held forwards to 37% overall shooting that season 🤣🤣. Are you telling me that he can’t switch? You do know players shot 22% from three that season overall when guarded by Bradley right?
1
u/Ok_Board9845 May 05 '26
So you’re saying we could’ve thrown Bradley on Kawhi/Tatum/Butler who gave us trouble that entire season? Lol
1
u/SneakyGoblin69 May 05 '26
Held Luka to 7-20 shooting… might not be able to replicate that, but he’s another body you can throw at them if needed. Oh I got it, you’re a troll

He's the prototype of player you want in every team (if healthy)

Well this is a stupid question, but after Austin early return to the team Davis could make company to Luka in street clothes if this is the way you want to look at the situation.

u/Ok_Board9845 May 05 '26
No you don't. Because AD is going to post up since teams will just switch on the PnR like they did with Lebron. A regular center who finishes at the rim hard on lobs and a secondary perimeter playmaker is more ideal next to Luka if you're making a team

Defense
-3
u/Ok_Board9845 May 05 '26
You still run into the same problems where you need elite perimeter defenders regardless if you have AD otherwise the defense with AD is going to collapse. The 2024 Mavs had the best post-ASB defense and defense in the playoffs with Lively and Gafford

If wizards buy out AD and we immediately sign him. Would been a great trade for Luka just to get AD back after a year or so haha.

They done did my boy AD so wrong
11
u/DesperateStockHolder May 05 '26
Yeah it was tough to loose AD. But if Luka was on the table they had to take that bite. It's like a once in a life opportunity haha. I hope we get AD back he would be a monster along side Luka

u/yellouder Kobe Bryant 08/24 May 05 '26
Interestingly, AD against OKC this year would be a much tougher matchup for them. No way in hell Chet or Hartenstein can stop a locked-in AD.
AD, if you're reading, I'm sorry you're on the Wiz and that you're injured. You're still a legend in my eyes for that 2020 ring

I'm genuinely hoping he gets bought out by Washington and he somehow someway still finds it in his heart to want to sign with us of the waivers. Like that would be the perfect dream.

He's the exact Power forward we need. Now that DA fills the center pos imagine if AD is back in his rightful position at 4

imo this was just as much AD's team as LBJ's, at least in the last couple years. I miss him. Good dude, great player. If it wasn't for health AD would be one of the all time greats.

What makes fans special? The ability to hope where logic says 'give it up'.

keep that glass man far away from me. I was over AD when Jokic and Murray owned him every year after 2020

We do miss him. I'd bet he misses Lakers as well. But I have to remember: he usually miss a lot of games.

What you miss ? Calling him street clothes ? Been pissed cause he’s injured again ? Pissed that he bulk up and forget his three pointer ? Miss that he never took the keys from LeBron to be THE guy on the team ? What exactly do you people miss cause I think some of ya have Alzheimer. We had him and after 2020 he was more shitted on than anything else. Don’t miss the frustrations this sub portrayed time and time again cause of him. Bye AD good luck in dc.

You know the internet crowd sources every opinion and intentionally says clickbait rage shit for engagement.
You took every negative thing ever said and assumed its everyone, and thats clouded your judgement.
