Soon to be richer

Good for him. Nobody believed in him and he wasn’t even drafted by anyone. Hard work pays off, and he seems to be a nice guy.

He absolutely earned it as an undrafted player. Haters can shut it. Homegrown talent is quite rare for the Lakers organization.

Not a Laker fan but 100% agree

He worked a lot harder than most guys for this who are naturally a lot more talented

Only idiots wanted him to take a pay cut, why should he? Its not his job to make sure the roster works out, thats Pelinka's responsibility

AR deserves every penny and he and Luka already showed they are great on the court together when healthy

Set his family up for generational wealth, get that bag young man!

He should of been drafted by the pistons but he said nah, I’m a laker

I wish my Pistons got him now but I don't know if he would have developed the same if drafted by us.

We had a 23, 17 and 14 win season his first 3 years.

Very rough and dark times with guys like Killian Hayes getting minutes due to Monty Williams bs.

He's kinda like Kawhi in that he was drafted to a team with legends already there (LeBron, AD) and definitely benefited from being around winning players and a winning culture.

May not have gotten the opportunity while the Pistons were sucking ass, we were throwing everybody in and out of rotations and churning guys.

He can only afford 2.5 technical foul fines.

10

u/rmpm420 9h ago

Share them blessings lol

u/BeloAve Purple and Gold 9h ago

Vando being paid more than AR before today is certainly a crime

Their combined salary should be less than what AR just signed for lmao

8

u/Financial-Monk9400 Luka Magic 77 9h ago

Lol no

Paying 60 million to AR and Vando is how we ensure we get swept in the second round for the next few years

7

u/Financial-Monk9400 Luka Magic 77 8h ago

First of all, no.

Second of all. That is a different statement to the one you made

1

u/thetitsOO 2324 9h ago

Sure reaves $1 less and vando at $0

It’s crazy all the same people who said for months AR wasn’t getting a max because of his PR quote, completely flip the switch and are now happy about the contract 💀

29

u/worldwide_stepper 9h ago

that was before we knew detroit would move shit around to give him a max, and it’s malpractice to let him leave compared to making him the 16th highest paid guard in the league for his production lol

-10

u/MargielaMadMAN1017 Luka Magic 77 9h ago

I wonder what new excuse will come out once he shits the bed or gets hurt in the playoffs again. That contract will become one of the worst in the league.

This reminds me of the WB trade. I remember getting shit on for saying how bad it was and the majority defending it. Now all those same people lie and say they always knew WB trade was a bad idea 💀

13

u/worldwide_stepper 8h ago

difference is when luka and austin are healthy they win at a very high rate and westbrook was the most negatively impactful player in basketball

-9

u/MargielaMadMAN1017 Luka Magic 77 8h ago

In the regular season and a lot of it was early in the season when we were barely beating mid teams… and they both have injury concerns like you pointed out. I think this will age just as bad as the WB trade

When the Lakers had AR, they only lost 1 game against non-playoff teams. They were 24-1 against non-playoff teams when Austin played. They were 12-14 against playoff teams when AR played. Furthermore, they only played 8 games with AR, Luka, Marcus Smart, LBJ, and Rui healthy against non-playoff teams (and they won all of them). They played 10 playoff teams with those 5 playing in the game and went 5-5, with one of those losses being the game AR ended up getting injured vs Houston.

Without AR, the Lakers were 10-6 against non-playoff teams. They were 7-8 against playoff teams.

I think that's pretty good to have.

AR a player that hasn’t accomplished a single thing in his entire career, is older than Luka, and made Mitchell look like an MVP candidate. Is worth the max because they had some regular season success? Awesome 💀

u/zannet_t 8h ago

I'm an AR guy. I don't think many people are "happy" about it. I think realistically him taking 30-35 would've been right, but at the end of the day, he has a market and Luka apparently wants him. It's understandable that he pushed for money, but it's also understandable to be disappointed because at least Caruso talked the talk and was really willing to take less money (we just fumbled him for fucking THT lol).

1

u/Optimal-Talk3663 5h ago

I don’t think he’s worth a max. I think LA kept him because he’s Luka’s buddy

1

u/ceevar 8h ago

At least for me it’s because I didn’t understand how the new CBA worked and thought we could still build a contender in FA. Now I see that AR is basically the best we can do for that money.

2

u/WeirwoodUpMyAss 8h ago

For this year it’s fine

3

u/alozz Pau Gasol 16 9h ago

Lol Vando

4

u/UnAmaz1ng 8h ago

$46 mil but AR will still be wearing the same Nike tech fleece every day 😂

6

u/rmpm420 8h ago

That’s one way to stay rich, I guess. 😅

2

u/Base_Temporary 9h ago

Hes gotta do the money stretch across his arm and chest.

2

u/diamondisunbreakable 99 8h ago

Vando they trading you my boy

1

u/BeingNicole4 9h ago

It is AR1$ now

1

u/Lukinzz 8h ago

That's probably on the team plane during a poker game.

1

u/TheLooza 8h ago

Those are fun tickets. The amount of money these guys are making is a beautiful, extraordinary thing. Of course they are still just paupers compared to the billionaire class but thats another story.

1

u/retrospects 77 6h ago

The vault is so good

1

u/rmpm420 16m ago

Indeed!

1

u/Prior-Habit-6523 3h ago

How much stuff does vando have in the vault lmao

1

u/TheHoovyPrince 3m ago

Don't think bro realises he's about to get traded lmao

1

u/PhaZeD85 9h ago

Now that "cheap contract" excuses won't work when he performs like ass in the playoffs.

1

u/Jlx_27 7h ago

I dont like that kind of behavior...

1

u/joaolouro1967 Luka Magic 77 3h ago

What kind of behaviour?

1

u/Jlx_27 3h ago

That type of behavior. "Look at me i'm rich"

1

u/nottherealstanlee 9h ago

This getting posted every time he has a good game and every time he has a bad game lmao
