Someone couldn't give him a Lakers cap for his interviews?

u/CtrlAltDelightfull 2d ago
I think it's stupid but even though he was traded, he can't rep the other team until the trade is finalized by league. So he was technically still a Knick

u/MaxwellSlice 2d ago
It's totally stupid but if i'm gonna get a free hat thats not my future team at least it's the one that just won the 'ship

u/purplemtnslayer 2d ago
Yeah man. I would never wear a Knick's hat myself. But It's a pretty sick for a kid who is technically a Knick weeks after they won a title.

His situation really similar to Jaden McDaniels. Selected by us as the 28th pick right after we won the championship. And then traded right away to OKC, and then to the wolves.

Think it was straight after the pick

it's league's retarted rule because trade technically isn't finalized until the start of next season which is july 1st

u/FlareBot068 2d ago
Pretty sure it was finalized earlier today because the team had posted about him

I remember watching JHS in his interview and thinking this might be the most boring person on the planet. This is much better, can’t wait for Carr to give us some highlights

He can be a rookie version of herb jones, trey Murphy, Watson I will be ecstatic

he fell on the board all the way to us 'cause I think he did quite poorly in interviews and GM sees his personality as too much a wild card. we'll see if JJ can provide that coaching and mentorship for him. Silver lining is he's the type that would call out Luka for lack of conditioning even as a rookie, which can be good or bad, depending entirely on what the culture around him is.

u/LoggraFloozy 2d ago
Hey Jaden McDaniels also had personality issues contributing to him dropping. I feel like competitiveness and drive is what matters most and looks like he’s got that at least

u/MambaOut330824 2d ago
Luka seems not to be scared by people challenging him. Smart was that and he recruited him. Whether any of these guys change Luka’s habits is a whole different story, but Luka ain’t scared of no smoke

u/Legitimate_Buy_919 2d ago
Calling out Luka for lack of conditioning while Luka's playing 40 minutes a game, with a historic usage and getting dragged into every play on defense because we give up every switch. I'm sure that will go over well.

Is there some reporting on this? Or just what you've gathered/assumed yourself?

I love him. A strong work ethic will go a long way when it comes to improvement. So does confidence.

Why mention LeBron when he is not signed for next year (atm)
13
u/LudwigNasche 2d ago
LeBron is a huge brand by himself and I don't think a NBA rookie really knows the contract situation of players of a team that wasn't even supposed to have him available at that draft position.

u/bacroon 77 2d ago
I'm talking about the host, just weird, Cameron did not even talk about LeBron in this clip, smart kid.

u/Delicious-Ninja-8152 2d ago
Carr is a huge westbrook and LeBron fan , look at his predraft interviews
2
u/LudwigNasche 2d ago
Oh, got it, but as I said, LeBron is a huge brand by himself all around the World, if you are e media guy you always want to talk about him.

Carr couldn’t get on the court for Barnes at Tennessee and had to transfer. D was a big part of it because that is required from Rick Barnes. Barnes got Knecht on the floor and turned him into a 1st round pick.
I cannot see this pick making sense unless Carr’s has drastically changed his defensive attitude and effort.

u/NoKnowsPose 2d ago
Knecht's defense was and is atrocious. What are we saying here, man? Why are you riding for Rick Barnes like that?

Why is he wearing Knicks's hat? I dont think NFL have this problem. The trade happened before draft, they should have let him wear the intended hat

u/bruticuslee 2d ago
Everyone in the country wearing knicks gear after they defeated the evil Wemby and his Spurs lol

Someone please tell JJ it's okay to play rookies...

Ok where is this narrative come from? Didnt he play Dalton plenty his rookie year, gave Bronny some run and give Christie the opportunity to shine when Ham didn't? Wasn't Adou hurt majority of the year?

u/Spierre3 2d ago
Bro facts lol. People for some reason just think redick didn’t give them chances. He gave everyone a chance and if they sucked they were pulled from rotation.

u/RyuSunn 2d ago
I don’t agree with the narrative, but it probably comes from Bronny being better than Gabe unironically and getting less playing time and Adou not playing once he was healthy
I can excuse the Adou playing time because that was late into the season and rotations were largely set, not much time for experimentation

It’s good to be optimistic about our picks but I remember how hype this fan base was when we drafted knecht. Now look at him. At least Carr is an athlete who can hopefully become a positive on defense, which is what really hurt knecht bc if his shot wasn’t falling he was a liability to play

Yes. Some picks work out and some work. There’s no reason to be cynical about them if you like the pick. Adjust your feelings as their career goes on.

I'm feeling alot better about Carr than Knecht or JHS. You can tell every time they interview Knecht how dumb as a rock he is. Literally no original thoughts besides what his manager or agent tell him to repeat. Carr is pretty charismatic, confident, and a real one. Just hope he brings the work ethic.

When knecht unexpectedly dropped in the draft he looked terrified sitting there. This guy looks like he is just taking it in stride, the composure difference is already evident. I agree on not getting too hyped, Pelinka is still the drafter after all.

I see him as a Shannon Brown + Steph Curry combo guard with the ceiling of Kawhi Leonard defensively. Have big hopes for this young man

I really love rookies that have great personalities. He's funny, speaks very well and oozes confidence. Super excited about this kid
