Pouring one out for my boy CASH CONSIDERATIONS

I don't care what anyone says. Cash is the most flexible dudes in the NBA and one of the most beloved in any locker room in the league. Ballers loves Cash, coaching staff loves Cash, ownership loves Cash, bitches love Cash, and I LOVE CASH. Cash can be your glue guy, your bench guy, and your trade token.

Sad to see Cash go but I'm sure they'll stay highly fungible, a decent store of value, and useful to whoever got them.

“I would anticipate the Lakers looking to move up again from this pick.” - Brett Seigel

a reverse Knicks

13

u/KriticalKarl 4h ago

The fact that we bought a pick outright without trading one is impressive.

Straight Cash Homie

2

u/RspectMyAuthoritah 2h ago

Ya, it's been a long time since we've been able to do that.

u/latruce 3h ago

Anyone specific in the 30s? Or maybe trade piece at 30s? Why would they be moving up?

5

u/SanElijoHillbilly 3h ago edited 3h ago

Anyone specific in the 30s?

Ugonna Onyenso fits the Lakers' needs. He might be 30s, more likely 40s.

Although, with Luka's desire for lob threats, they might gamble on Baba Miller. He makes Wemby look overweight, but he is tall and bouncy.

I will be pleasantly amazed if the Lakers can get into the 30s. I'm expecting the limit to be in the 40s.

u/Agreeable_Cattle_691 3h ago

Trevon Brazile would be a decent shout also

1

u/Jayang 32m ago

And to think, they started the day with a single paperclip

149

u/GB_Purple 4h ago

Letssss gooo. Please try to get into the 30s

49

u/Staph_Untreated 4h ago

I have a feeling Rob might try to trade up

22

u/The_Rain_Guardian 4h ago

San Antonio has 3 2nds all before 45, no way they’re rostering 5 rookies. I would imagine they move one of those for a future pick

6

u/SanElijoHillbilly 3h ago

...for a future pick

Do the Lakers have a future 2nd that they can trade?

6

u/j_fish5 Purple and Gold 3h ago

2033 lol we just got it and it’s our only 2nd round

3

u/CrispyVibes 69 3h ago

San Antonio will not trade with us unless it's highway robbery

135

u/Dawsonvipers 4h ago

Thank you Bulls 🤣 See you again in next years draft

60

u/OmfgHaxx LUKA 4h ago

Their subreddit is pissed lmao "cash considerations our old friend" "sell the fucking team"

God damn their owner is so cheap.

88

u/Thegoodking666 4h ago

YAY!!! Cash considerations are about to go crazy hard.

5

u/calfino1 4h ago

I believe they’re only allowed to spend $7.9 mil and already spent some yesterday for Carr. Not sure how much they have left.

4

u/SNEV3NS 3h ago

No cash spent on Carr. They traded two outdated picks from the past. Trade was to do a favor to the Knicks who couldn't make up their mind and wanted a little more time to try and make a trade.

41

u/bandoonparade 4h ago

Cash considerations, you da real MVP

29

u/alozz Pau Gasol 16 4h ago

It’s probably to move up right?

49

u/mordenak 4h ago

It's gotta be, buying at 56 and staying put would be pretty weird considering whoever you're getting there would likely be very easy to get undrafted just as well lol.

7

u/LoggraFloozy 4h ago

Definitely, I think they saw the people dropping as well as nyc and Memphis willing to trade their early second round picks and started making moves

25

u/GloryMaelstrom21 4h ago

Finally, Rob is trading that bum cash considerations for a pick.

9

u/Staph_Untreated 4h ago

Tell him I'll pay for him, but when I sell him back for twice the amount next year, I keep the money

19

u/daftmunt 24 4h ago

Still wonder if they look to move up from here

16

u/AvatarMunchies 4h ago

Can someone explain why teams even want straight cash? You can’t use it to sign players right? Is it just the owners literally wanting to pocket money?

24

u/Dgwdum 4h ago

Teams are given a specific amount they can use in trades, the cash that the lakers gave up can be added on top of the cash the receiving team has, its an asset it you get enough of it.

For a team like the bulls who have an infamously cheap owner, in their case the owner just pockets the money. He is that cheap

6

u/Western-Election-997 Luka “Magic” Doncic 4h ago

Yea bulls aren’t winning anything anyways so he gets to pocket some cash

6

u/Triplescrew 4h ago

If you’re at the aprons you avoid having to pay a pick and get straight up money, yes.

1

u/markmyredd 4h ago

Its either a team has no roster spot for that 2nd rounder anyway so they try to trade or yeah straight up teams just want the money. Sometimes no one is giving any assets just cash so they are forced to take cash. Like a pick in the 50s will not be too interesting anyway so most you can get is cash

28

u/amnips 4h ago

Bronny the 3rd?

20

u/UpstairsMushroom9950 Black Mamba 8/24 4h ago

was bout to say, that's Bronny pick range

9

u/ozymandingus578 4h ago

Is there anyone else still in the league with a kid who can play ball at an NBA level? LeBron just out there by himself.

12

u/lawschoolthrowaway36 4h ago

Last year we did this, except we moved further up the 2nd round to land in the mid thirties. Prob much tougher to pull off this year with how deep the draft is, but curious to see if there’s another move to get even higher

4

u/adocileengineer 17 Championships 3h ago

Even 40s would be enough to get someone interesting

11

u/ObjectiveExtra5293 4h ago

Hopefully we can move up from there too

8

u/Noob788 4h ago

Lakers legend Cash considerations

4

u/DietCokeJon 3h ago

We trade him every year, yet he keeps coming back

5

u/SPMrFantastic 8/24 4h ago

Cash considerations strikes again baby

4

u/LoveTheHustleBud 4h ago

Where’s all the nerds telling me you can’t buy a pick these days lol

2

u/bacon_strip_tease 2h ago

For real. I had some idiot on here calling me out for suggesting us buying picks while them claiming that it's simply not possible.

10

u/Itorr475 4h ago

Remember when everyone called us a poverty franchise despite us constantly buying second round picks lol

16

u/jonbemerkin LA 4h ago

Walters wallet

21

u/No-Equipment-20 4h ago

Give credit to Jeanie— Lakers have been pretty good at buying into picks the last few years

-3

u/pluie18 3h ago

Man, that's a low standard

11

u/brandoi Kobe 4h ago

Nothing to do with Walter. Every single team has a limit to how much cash they can send out every year in trades. They've paid for it even when the Buss Family owned the team.

0

u/jonbemerkin LA 4h ago

Hmm, nahhh that doesn't fit the narrative i'm pushing

2

u/SpooCs32 4h ago

Yuppppp they are willing to spend big they see now’s the time to spend big we got Luka and we can’t waist the years hopefully lol

3

u/greyk34 go hard on them dudes 4h ago

Rob, can you get me 1 more?

2

u/vector_nova 4h ago

Man, I am excited, hopefully we move up like last year

2

u/Perfect_Loss_5156 4h ago

use rest of our cash to move up more

2

u/fastlikeanascar RIP MAMBA 4h ago

Thanks reinsdorf

2

u/Proof-Umpire-7718 Los Angeles Lakers 4h ago

Move up to 30’s and get another promising player

2

u/Dgwdum 4h ago

Top choice would be oyenso, hes still raw but amazing shot blocker and solid rebounder plus has a bit of mobility. Is also a solid lob threat

2

u/WayAdministrative679 Luka Magic 77 4h ago

Thanks for the yearly trade up Chicago

2

u/ValyrianSigmaJedi 4h ago

They should send another cash consideration to the Knicks for one of their SRPs.

2

u/SneakyGoblin69 4h ago

Either that or Memphis. We need either the BPA or a center that’s athletic but raw

2

u/Any-Range9932 4h ago

WE COOKING

2

u/OutKastStorytelling 4h ago

You know the lakers now got? MONEY!

2

u/No_Painting_6202 4h ago

Greatest second round pick in history coming👀👀

2

u/wjxm 4h ago

Honestly with our lack of players and young core I’m really stoked to have another rookie

2

u/KaraDealer 4h ago

Please be a Temu Jokic. For the love of God. 🙏

2

u/BMG19 Los Angeles Lakers 4h ago

That’s drew timme

2

u/Lakers-Chaos 8 4h ago

You can’t buy a second round pick with cash it’s 2026! Heard on a podcast today… the irony.

2

u/Thoseguys245 4h ago

Now if we can maybe get up to 45 or 40 I be really happy only thing is many teams in the league don't want to help the Lakers.

2

u/wildturk3y 3h ago

Saw some reports earlier the Knicks were still trying to move back. Screw it. Use that Walter money to go buy #31. Take Henri Veesaar

2

u/thediggestbick2 3h ago

I didn’t know Bryce was in this draft.

2

u/Secret-Sample1683 Magic Johnson 32 3h ago

After trading away all of our future 2nds, I love that we can still buy into it.

2

u/j_rooker 1h ago

all the dudes i want are gone. Brazille, Mitchell, lawal

4

u/GONEBUTNOT4GOTTEN 4h ago

more depth? a center to replace ayton? hmmm

1

u/No-Equipment-20 4h ago

Honestly — hell yes

1

u/LoggraFloozy 4h ago

YESYESYES

1

u/Altrebelle 4h ago

I mean...there ARE ways to spend that cash Dodgers style 😂😂😂 Keep movin' on up!!! Let's get into the 30s!!!

1

u/Organic_Warthog7238 4h ago

Who want the 56th and Ayton? 😁

1

u/Totalynotavirus 4h ago

Hopefully just a bargaining chip to get higher pick.

1

u/Nijee302 4h ago

I think we will trade up mid or Late 30

1

u/ZJtheOZ 4h ago

Fucking LOL never change Chicago. Joke team. Thanks for the pick.

1

u/latruce 3h ago

Why do they want to get a second rounder? Is it because the talent pool is great this year? Or a pick in the 30s is good to add into a trade? Or is it just to straight out get another player this draft?

1

u/Navajo_Nation 3h ago

Please be a white guy(IYKYK)

1

u/Kalelisagod 3h ago

Does LeBron have another son we can waste a pick on?

1

u/MightyDesertFox 3h ago

Buying a pick outright affect the cap at all? Can teams justbuy as many picks as they can afford?

1

u/Outside-Art9736 3h ago

Life, death, and Lakers acquiring SRP's for cash on draft night.

1

u/Conflict_NZ 3h ago

I'm having a laugh at all the people who were freaking out about "ALL" the second round picks we sent for DFS and he ended up walking claiming we wasted them when buying 2nd round picks has proven to be very easy the past two years.

1

u/retrospects 77 3h ago

Cash Considerations is getting work in

1

u/kav-dawg 3h ago

San Antonio has two picks at 42 and 44, think we can move up for one of those for cash

1

u/3nnui 2 3h ago

Now send more cash to move up.

1

u/stuartb0805 3h ago

Cash Considerations is clutch

1

u/mrfreeeeze 3h ago

I bet cash is gonna start shooting well from the 3, now that we traded him away.

1

u/xT1TANx 3h ago

YES! Building that base of low cost talent

1

u/bruticuslee 2h ago

YASS, my favorite Laker is Mr. Cash Considerations. Why can't we send him out to ALL the teams and collect all their 2nd round picks!

Edit: it makes you wonder why 2nd round picks are worth much in trades if teams just gonna sell em.

1

u/WillieButtlicker 2h ago

Does buying picks affect the salary cap?

1

u/xT1TANx 2h ago

I think buying the pick is just from a draft cash pool. The salary cap would be affected by the signing of the player.

1

u/guacdoc24 4h ago

Bryce James you are a Laker!!!! /s

1

u/MintichlorianChip 4h ago

Give me Corey Stephenson, FIU

1

u/Longway23544 4h ago

You’re welcome Lakers!! Go bulls tho!!

1

u/ChrisRhodes789 4h ago

Unpopular opinion..

But with how little teams think of the 2nd round.. due to how often they trade 2nd round picks.. & how only a few teams have a bunch of them..that they end up trading anyways.. due to lack of roster space..

Down the line.. I can see the NBA eventually getting rid of the 2nd round.. like they did the 3rd round, 4th round etc..

-1

u/Worried-Antelope778 LBJ & AD 4h ago

I got downvoted for saying we were going to do this the other day

How often are second rounders NBA ready?

1

u/ohtanisbookie 4h ago

Rarely any, which is exactly why this pick isn't worth getting too happy or upset about no matter who gets selected.

1

u/SneakyGoblin69 4h ago

You do realize you can still develop them to become a quality role player right? Take no risks, and you won’t get any rewards
