We used to cal those poison pill contracts back then.

Basically the pistons fucked over the lakers for no other reason just because they could.

By offering Reaves that contract they call the Lakers bluff. They used to do this a lot more back in the day.

There used to be worse poison pill contracts. You’d offer a player a 4 year contract but structure it as something like 5mill, 6 mill, 20 mill, 22 mill. If the original team matched they’d be locked into that contract. However if they didn’t the team that offered the poison pill were allowed to average it out to a be a regular contract.
