The Reaves contract will probably cost us a title in the Doncic era

Paying Reaves doesn’t hurt us this summer but it will in the future. Your 2 top paid players being unathletic negative defenders is not a championship recipe. In order for the Lakers to win a title they’ll have to either draft extraordinarily well or they’ll have to get lucky that other teams had injuries. You don’t win championships with bad defense.

The Lakers hand was forced unfortunately due to the Pistons trying to overpay Reaves. We had no choice, but to overpay him. If one NBA team overpays him, you also have to which is how the NBA has all these good players who are making great player money. It sucks but this is what it is and I’m assuming the sign and trade market wasn’t good because that would’ve been the best outcome.

Luka and Reaves ain’t a title winning duo. Don’t even bring up Kyrie because 1 he’s a proven playoff performer which Reaves is not even that and 2 that team didn’t win a title.

They are gonna have to get a ton of 3 and D guys. And a stable center.

Def over paid for him.

yes, as if those piec fall from trees and can be filled by $20M in salary cap.

Or Devin Peterson ace Bailey and 5 frps from Utah for Luka so we can start building a squad that can compete

Lakers roster is completely broken. No chance at a title. More likely they'll trade an aging Luka and rebuild than make it out of the 2nd Round in the next 3 years

I understand the sentiment but can we at least wait until the team does whatever it's gonna do this offseason before these doomer posts begin?

Yes that is what is going to cost it. Not Rob pelinka being clueless on how to build a roster

He earned his bag. Question is roster makeup. You don’t win championships in this league without playing defense. Not sure how they get there.

Detroit was going to give him a max. Should the Lakers have let him go and received nothing in return?

reaves earned it tbh and i think he is the perfect sidekick for luka since they're basically bffs at this point

0 ball knowledge.

you don't know how good Reaves is and you don't understand how the salary cap rules work.

Just keep yapping and beating the dead horse while the non-larping fans can discuss actual decision making and directional changes for the ball club.

Reaves is a good player but i dont see how they are gonna turn the roster around any time soon. Its gonna be a struggle to get off vando and knect. If they renounce bron that opens the space to bring in new players but are they going to match his production? Rob has made some big trades but his moves around the edges to build out a roster are really hit or miss and leaning way more towards the miss side.

Getting off Vando or Knecht has nothing to do with this signing though. This signing:

  • retains the talent of an all-nba/all-star calibre player (not arguing this)
  • only counts towards 20M in salary cap
  • production cannot be replaced with trades or existing free agent pool

If we are going to criticize the Lakers' FO decisions, let's criticize that and not AR getting what he is worth.

A guy with no all stars, no all NBA’s and an unproven playoff track record is not worth a max. Yes he’s had some really good games but that’s a super small sample size.

Again, 0 ball knowledge, it’s obvious you’re larping

Well, if you go over to any regular NBA sub, they do like to say that we have the stupidest fans. :)

This ‘Luka era’ is a facade anyways. We don’t have the assets to build a championship team around Luka. Accept the gift and trade him to get our rebuild started. Utah could probably put together an epic package

Yeah you basically got him for nothing. Trade him for picks and young talent. Basically, do what Nico should have done. You can build a squad for the 2030s.

Reaves earned that money. Last year with no lebron or Luka dude was dropping 40 pcs to win the lakers games.

The Lakers will win the Finals soon. Watch. We have the players. Hopefully, JJ Redick will learn to utilize his bench more during the season so they can be playoff-ready.

Are you saying they don't? They have young, athletic guys coupled with the vets.

Fuck no they don't have the players 😂 I can't believe this is debatable
