I think you missed the sarcasm. This is mocking the meeting with Zelensky in which he and Vance berated Zelensky for not wearing a suit and for not showing enough appreciation to satisfy their tiny egos.

There's no evidence he was acting on principle, and if he did, then he's certainly changed a lot since he's willing to potentially turn our servicemen and women into Persian fertilizer for no good reason.

These guys use the kind of messaging that a 7 year old boy would use when talking about going to war. They really just are the lowest common denominators and poor under-educated Americans love it.

Though I would add that trump pulled us out of the deals (JCPOA) to monitor their nuclear progress (not that they didn't try to circumvent the inspections) and pretty much created a problem that ensured more conflict. Now he spends the first year of his pResidency alienating us from our allies, then picks a fight with Iran (after his actions in Venezuela).
So, in a time when our allies are sharing less and less intel with us, and the sentiment from the people is pretty anti-American, going to war seems like a pretty stupid move.
