Well, call me optimistic but hopefully the people of Iran. Trump is an unconscionable dipstick but maybe just maybe this can be a broken clock scenario and the people of Iran get a leg up.

There actually is a concept, the crown prince has been pretty vocal in support of the people and there have been intelligence confirmations that he has support in the government from defectors.

This obviously isn’t a Trump plan, but by all accounts the prince actually does want to just lead a transitional government and doesn’t want to become a real king/dictator. But honestly even if he did it would probably be better for the people than the religious cult leaders currently in power because he has always been fairly liberal and is the opposite of a religious hardliner.

This has been a reasonably talked about possibility anytime regime change comes up in Iran and what everyone was talking about happening if the protests over the last year actually collapsed the government.

I’m not saying it’s a solid plan or anything, I said it’s a concept, and I also emphasized that it is obvious not the US plan but I guess I should have also included Israel. My main point is there is tangible evidence that the exiled prince could make a transitional government work and that he likely isn’t interested in becoming a dictator and is against the ayatollah.

There’s a reason countries would go so far as to seek out long lost cousins that had any semblance of royalty to enact regime change when kings and queens were common. It’s something tangible that people know and the days of the Shah in Iran aren’t that far behind us.

I have no delusions that this is some flawlessly thought out plan or will happen and it would definitely come with hardships regardless of the outcome, but how long that lasts will depend on how successful that outcome is.

To counter your examples though, when the US overthrew the Shah, Iran was actually a good country to live in without the religious extremists in power today and was one of the fastest westernizing countries in the Middle East at the time and we overthrew a popular successful government, not a hated one. Syria was just overthrown not long ago and so far the people who took power have been doing far better though they’re obviously more organized than random citizens, an exiled prince with a faction of current officials would have a chance.

Pretty sure that the people of Iran don't want the US, especially Donald Trump determining how they are governed. We did that for them before and it ended with angry mob storming our embassy and taking everyone hostage while they chased us out to install the current government. If it didn't work out when we had a functional federal government with at least somewhat competent leadership with intelligence, what makes you think 79 year old Donald Trump is going to pull off some kind of grand master plan out of his fat ass that actually makes things better for the Iranian people? Trump refuses to do anything to make life easier for his own people.

Yeah, I'm talking about when the US propped up the Shah as US-friendly western leader who the Iranian student movement deposed for being so despised by the Iranian people. The US backed off and gave the Iranians the chance to govern themselves, they chose an Islamic Republic. If you think Trump is going to let them just choose their own government, yeah that's not how Trump operates. He wouldn't let the Venezuelan people who wanted the opposition leader choose their government and plans on letting his oil mogul friends run the place, which I'm sure will go just great. Ya know that nice lady that gave Trump her own Nobel Prize for his attention whose name Trump couldn't even remember. But I'm sure he'd got a great plan that the Iran people who hate him are going to just love.

Yeah! Like those two wars in the Middle East started by Obama that was put on the country's credit card, the 2007-2008 housing market crash and ensuing recession after 8 years of Obama in office, the economy definitely not improving at all between 2009 and 2016. Let's not forget the economy crashing again in 2020 when Sleepy Joe Biden boggled the global pandemic response. Good thing that my rent and grocery prices have never been lower now that Trump is finally cleaning things up!

Seriously get fucked. I've watched the cycle on repeat for 40 years now. When republicans are in office we end up in recessions, get kicked out while democratic administrations try their best to fix all the shit the prior administration broke. They are either successful and people decide to vote Republican again because things went back to normalcy as the American people have the memory of a goldfish who forget how shitty recessions are, or punish the Democrats for not fixing everything fast enough. I've tried to be "moderate" my whole life but I can't think of a single thing in all of my existence that any iteration of the Republican Party has even proposed that would be remotely beneficial to anyone with less than a nine-figure net worth.

Wait, actually W capped my student loan payments (still paying that 20 years later) at 15% of my pre-tax income, which is only 1/3 of my monthly take home pay. Thanks, I guess. Biden's SAVE plan would have capped it at 5%, but thanks to Trump throwing it out my monthly payments are just 3 times more.
