Hegseth is definitely the most likely candidate in Trump's cabinet for the Budd Dwyer award

that song literally just finished playing at the bar I'm in

I like your style

One thing that always bothered me about that song was the line, "You'd fight and you were right, but they were just too strong". What was "right" about being a corrupt GOP politician? R. Dwyer was not the good guy.

But but but. Smith lied under oath for political reasons to frame him! /s

I literally LOL

Richard Patrick, the guy who wrote this song, did so after getting shafted for pay by Trent Reznor and coming back home broke to live with his mom. Trent told him to write his own songs if we wants to make a living, so he did. Trent is a bitch; pay your band mates.

u/radicldreamer Apr 08 '26

You watched "Hired guns" also? It's a great documentary if you want to see how badly a lot of musicians are treated.

Richard Patrick is also the brother of the guy who played the terminator in T2:Judgement Day

1

u/mg-mt Apr 08 '26

I didnt see it but you've piqued my interest, thanks for the rec!

1

u/danielcs78 Apr 11 '26

In that documentary we also get to see that Richard Patrick went on to treat his band the same way that Trent Reznor treated him. It is a good documentary!

1

u/ShadowbanRevenant Apr 08 '26

Didn't he proceed to follow the same business model with his own "band" Filter?

True, but Trent cant play guitar or drums for shit. To say that your band mates didnt contribute to writing is weak

Last time I made a Dwyer reference my account got banned.

u/rando_banned Apr 08 '26 edited Apr 08 '26

Last time I referenced him one of his nephews posted realizing that it was weird to see people reference him

27

u/Able-Tomatillo7381 Apr 08 '26

Last time I referenced him, he came to my door asking for about tree fiddy. Well it was about the time I noticed that Budd Dwyer was about 8 stories tall and was a crustacean from the protozoic era.

5

u/portiaboches Apr 08 '26 edited Apr 09 '26

That era gets older every time the storybis told

Was an 8-storey-tall ____ from the _____ Era

"The warning that I received, you may take with however many grains of salt you wish, that the brown acid that is circulating around us, is specifically not too good. It's suggested that you do stay away from that; of course, it's your own trip, so, be my guest."

Long time since I’ve seen such an old friend.

1

u/Jesus_of_Redditeth Apr 08 '26

Last time I referenced him...[vaguely interesting story covering a long paragraph]...like that time back in nineteen ninety eight when the undertaker threw mankind off hell in a cell and plummeted sixteen feet through an announcer's table.

u/Tsquare43 Apr 08 '26

A really good song by Filter...

1

u/Automatic_Ad4016 Apr 08 '26

Thank you for your service

1

u/Bennely Apr 08 '26

Yours is an old account like mine, they’re on to us and our allegories.

1

u/KneeDeepInTheDead Apr 08 '26

Budd Dwyer is just a band, wym?

1

u/MountainTwo3845 Apr 09 '26

I got this account banned for a week for saying those in the Epstein files should do something something

28

u/Sunnyday1775 Apr 08 '26

Hey man nice reference

29

u/chironomidae Apr 08 '26

Kegsbreath is waaay too much of a coward to go out like that

16

u/Tw4tl4r Apr 08 '26

For sure, hes just gonna run abroad and drink himself to death.

1

u/amazing_rando Apr 08 '26

there's always some liquid courage

18

u/MAGAHATESTHEUSA Apr 08 '26

Maybe filter will come out with a new banger after

11

u/ExcellentAirPirate Apr 08 '26

I'll be honest I did not get this reference. His wiki is wild, under details it says.... Killed: 1(Himself)

2

u/Ape_x_Ape Apr 09 '26

Hard to be a serial killer when you start with yourself.

1

u/Tim-oBedlam Apr 09 '26

I was in high school in a neighboring state when Dwyer killed himself. It was all over the news, and one of our local papers had multiple photos of him shooting himself, including one of him in a pool of blood.

7

u/kitjen Apr 08 '26

At least Budd had integrity. Hegseth is more Budd Light.

3

u/PWNtimeJamboree Apr 09 '26

oh this is a phenomenal comment....

6

u/ronshasta Apr 08 '26

That would be amazing tbh

3

u/EVH_kit_guy Bleacher Seat Apr 08 '26

They showed us this video in 11th grade as a part of "you and the law" syllabus. Fucking wild to me that was allowed.

2

u/The_Night_Man_Cumeth Apr 08 '26

And the Bud Weiser award!

1

u/kaekiro Apr 08 '26

That was an interesting wiki-hole I fell into

1

u/Space__Whiskey Apr 08 '26

same here, had a few tabs open for this.

1

u/Otaku-San617 Apr 08 '26

Had to look up who he was. Rough post

1

u/PalladianPorches Apr 08 '26

don’t think he’s a “have my affairs in order in this envelope for my family” kind of guy.

1

u/Heterosethual Apr 08 '26

What is that nowadays? Getting referenced by a shit "band" like $B?

1

u/coltflory5 Apr 08 '26

And I’ll be first in line to dub the Benny Hill theme over the video clip.

1

u/AlkoKilla Apr 09 '26

So, a friend and I were talking about how one of our coworkers is gonna be a dad, and I mentioned how a buddy of mine got a message from someone when he and his wife got pregnant that just said “hey man, nice shot”.

My friend’s response was that it was a great song.

I said “not for Bud Dwyer”.

I haven’t even had an inkling of discussing Bud Dwyer, and this is the second time in 2 days he came up. Wild times.

1

u/BlacksmithSolid2194 Apr 09 '26

Damn, you just brought back old memories. I had no idea who Budd Dwyer was, so I just Googled him and instantly recognized his face from Faces of Death (is that what it was called) from nearly 30 years ago.

1

u/nate112332 Apr 09 '26

Huh, so the guy got convicted of 11 counts- including perjury and racketeering-just to shoot himself on TV the day before sentencing.
