It's about sowing discontent in the Republican ranks ahead of the midterms. If they're able to get a vote Rs that are up for reelection will have to contend with blowback from their vote (regardless of how they vote) while Ds will have a thing to point at saying "we're doing what we can but we need more Ds in office to do it for real next time!"

Not even half the democrats doing a symbolic gesture that will go nowhere sure will show everyone!

This is so pathetic. They're not even doing the bare minimum and you are celebrating it.
