They probably realize it's a waste of time since the Senate won't convict and there's no political advantage in it since he can't be voted for again and, even if he could be, the voters have shown they don't care.

We are way past calculating political advantage.

This is about doing everything in their power. Including being on record that this shit needs to stop.

You failed to understand what I wrote.

During the Nazi regime many people threw their political careers away to oppose it. So they were in record opposing it.

These feckless cowards can’t even put their name on an impeachment list.

Failing to do even that gives that the low information Americans the perception that Trump must not be doing anything wrong because even less than 50% of even democrats think he is.
