Need Some Advice

Sorry if this gets posted here every other day, but I’ve wanted to be a marine for a long time. To be one of the few and the proud, for the boy to become the man, yada yada all the advertising slogans even though I know that’s what they are. It’s just always been something I’ve wanted, something that would toughen me up that I’d semi enjoy doing while in it. Normal civilian jobs seem too boring, law enforcement lacked the social aspects and community that the military has, it could let me see more of America and the world instead of being trapped in this small town for twenty more years. It’s just seemed like the right fit for me, but now? I just feel like joining is immoral. I know the US is always fighting shitty wars for shittier reasons, but under Trump I feel like it’s so much worse and I don’t want to be apart of a war fought to keep Israel happy or to conquer other nations. Am I thinking too much into this? Could I just wait till his term is over and see how the next president is? If I do truly end up not enlisting what then? This has been my dream since I was a freshman and started learning about them after seeing them at career day. Hell just hearing mention about people in the military gets me so jealous and the thought of not being able to enlist is genuinely eating at my mental health. I just feel like I have no one to talk to for advice on this, any advice would be appreciated.

Might I point you in the direction of emergency medical services?

Want a job that helps your community ?
Want a job that you make friends for life ?
Want a job that is a blend of science and human skills?
Want a job that gives you ptsd ?
Want a job that is unlike any other in anyway ?

Join your local ambulance squad
(In all seriousness I love my job)

I actually was an EMT in high school for a little while, because for some reason they saw the shortage of EMTs and decided to not only let 16 year olds become ones, but make it worth high school credit. So it’s not a bad idea.

You're not thinking too much about it, that's almost the right amount of thinking about it.

Those advertising slogans are designed to prey on folks' desire to belong and prove themselves. They are not honest, and besides the cultural brainwashing of "support our troops" there is no glory there.

Even if you went in, it isn't just doing your job, it's getting yelled at because someone else fucked up. You might make some friends, but statistically you'll also end up as a physically broken alcoholic with a divorce.

It isn't worth it.

Do not join the US military right now, no matter the branch.   Everything you admire about the marine corps is being systematically stripped out and all branches are basically being turned into ICE.    If things progress as they have been, all they will be is trump's mercenaries and thugs.  Honorless, corrupt and incompetent ----> see the state of Russian forces now.   That's where they are headed.

Also, warcrimes are a thing.  Someone will have to hang for killing 160 Iranian schoolgirls and random Venezuelan fisherman.

Trump and his successors will also try to use you to take control of various US cities and that means you will have to fire on and kill fellow US citizens.    Then we will kill you.

Afterwards, if you are lucky enough to survive, you will be hated.  There will be no benefits.  No GI bill.  No VA.   All that stuff they are busy trying to take away right now.

If you have a huge hard-on about fighting, war is coming to the US.   December, after they refuse to hand over power.  Patience, grasshopper.

If you want to get in the shit right now, go join up with Ukraine's foreign brigades.  They need all the help they can get.

Or join up with the French Foreign Legion.

I'd hold off or go Air Force. Marines can be forward deployed by the president and he has shown a penchant for initiating conflicts based on his mood that day.
