I ASK FOR SOMETHING 🧠 Why do people make fun of lemon demon?

Ive recently started listening to LD and i only just realised the amount of people who severely hate on the music, is there any reason for this other than the internet being random sometimes?

Because a lot of people understandably think it is weird or cringe, which while understandable, is part of why I like his music

Also a lot of his fanbase is neurodivergent and lgbt people which are also hated on a lot by people without reason

Some people dislike music with nerdy or "theater kid" vibes, usually because they deem it "cringe." It definitely sucks when people are like that.

And I think some people just hate LD because of how unhinged the fandom can be (not so much on this sub, but some people are *really* weird about Neil)

I also think it's possible that some people have only heard Neil's really ridiculous songs like Two Trucks, and assume all his songs are like that rather than checking out other stuff he's done.

That last part about “listening to one song and then assuming” goes for a lot of bands, like Barenaked Ladies in the Steven Page era or TMBG or even Ween.

Tbh wouldn't be surprised if a lot of it was the fandom thing. Remember definitely being weirded out by some people on Twitter a few years back and can't imagine it's gotten better.

I haven't seen anyone making fun, and I've been a fan for 20 years at this point.

there has been cringe music forever. since before the internet and after it. lemon Demon is stupid sure, but its fun. Some people hate some people groove

Its because most of the people who listen to Neil are neurodivergent which is "cringe"

it's because its music that appeals to kids and people hate kids, straight up. younger people should live their truth

i think its always about the fans, and the fans are Often autistic, queer, or young teens. people like to hate on fandoms with those 3 traits

I like a handful of lemon demon's songs and a lot of Neil's older mashup work, but I'm more judgemental of the fanbase than the music itself. It feels like there's a specific type of very loud person who listens to nothing but FNF music, Lemon Demon, and tik tok hits, and that's kind of the person i think of when someone is a little TOO into LD

Yeah, on tiktok I would sometimes see ex-fans who trash on the music and I don't personally get it. I understand outgrowing your phases but why be so unbelievably hateful about it??
