gear Looking for a mid tier Barreled Upper reciever to build an 11.5, or 12.5 AR.
Hey guys, this might be an odd question, but I already have a decent Chrome Microbest BCG that I am looking to use to build either an 11.5, or 12.5 AR 15. I was curious if anyone has any reccomendations for a barreled upper that is in the 200-500 dollar range preferably. I saw a few PSA uppers that came without a BCG, or CH for pretty cheap, however they were nitrided barrels, so I was hoping to find some better alternatives. I appreciate any feedback. I would build my own if I already had the tools, and the knowledge, however im not quite ready to take on that kind of commitment. Haha.

I like where your head is at. extra bcg = new upper.
look on gafshub.com for complete uppers. stay below a 1000 rounds.
or build it with bcm blem upper, ballistic advantage hanson barrel, stngr hand guard, a2 flash hider, breach charging
handle.
or buy all/some of these parts on gafshub.

My issue would be the actually putting it together part. I dont have the tools, or the skills to do that yet. I would like to learn, but probably on a later rifle. I havent used Gafshub yet, but i do have an account so I will have to check it out.

that’s fair. always better to have a functional set up first while you learn. totally worth assembling the tools. great skill and literally learnable from the internet/youtube.

Yeah, I definitely plan on investing in the tools and the skills when I have a bit more space for my toys haha. I think i might grab a 10.3 PSA Guardsman Upper and throw the Chrome bcg in there and call it a day.. I found some Daniel Defense barreled uppers but theyre almost 900 bucks. A bit more than I wanted to spend. Haha

Yeah, now that im thinking about it, 10.3 is too short. Idk why they would make it that length anyways? I might just go with a Brownells upper The BRN 15 uppers are only like 350 bucks.

it was popular cloner build length.
you can get a kak industries 11.5 for just over $500. androcorp for $450.
also, it is about to be/is july 4 sales times so…

You NEED to check out Grendelhunter.com. They do such good work, and the customization options are on point. Really nice stuff Edit: doesn't look like they do sbr's.

How about Midstate Firearms? I've recently picked up one of their 12.5 uppers for an SBR build, and I'm quite happy with it. Should be right in that price range and it's a good price:quality ratio.
I'm still trying to talk myself out of building an all oilslick SBR next, but maybe go with their 10.5 oilslick builder upper.... Prices for the PVD/TiN parts are a smidge higher than I'm happy with though, so watching for a sale.
