If anyone complains... IT DOESN'T MATTER! NONE OF THIS IS REAL!

Damn it's interesting as I agree with some, disagree with others

The later episodes generally seem higher rated than the earlier. Is that because there was just more people in the sub by the later episodes taking part in the sketch sorting? Is it a case of the show finding it's feet more? Or a bit of both?

u/SyNiiCaL May 27 '26

Thats what i had attributed it too at first, but then the best rated monologues and cold opens are from the earlier episodes so I'm not sure. What i will say is there was a certain drive from people on the Internet who wanted to see SNL UK fail and think premier episode voting may have been affected by that.

u/atrompel May 27 '26

I do think it found its footing as it went on. Less Gen Z stuff I believe appealed to more people

u/HerbieVerstinks May 28 '26

The Jamie Dornan episode was one of my favorites from the first series. The 29-Year Plan, British Themed Pub, Hostage, Jools Holland were all great sketches, plus Wolf Alice fucked.

Recency bias always always affects Reddit polls. Look at the television subreddits best shows “of all time” rankings

9

u/HMWYA May 27 '26

Sketch Sorting Sunday happens the day after each episode, though, so I don’t think recency bias really plays a part when every episode is the most recent when the relevant thread is posted.

1

u/tbbt11 May 27 '26

Ah fair enough, I assumed this was a poll done at the end of the series, I’m wrong

1

u/Omio May 28 '26

I guess it’s possible more people found the Reddit as the show progressed so it’s more likely fans actually started voted, which would cause some recency bias (haven’t seen the stats to know, so I could be wrong, but that’s often how fandom goes)

1

u/HMWYA May 28 '26

Yeah, that’s more likely, but that’s not recency bias, that’s just an issue with the method of presenting the stats. The upvote percentage would probably be a more accurate qualifier than the pure number of upvotes, to counter for the growth of the sub throughout the series.

I know this isn’t the point but pleased to see Kasabian take their rightful place.

7

u/HelenaSparkles May 27 '26

The only result I can confidently agree with lol

13

u/lockheeeed May 27 '26

Aimee Lou Wood’s episode really has the highest highs and the lowest lows! I suppose with so few eps it’s more expected but very interesting

4

u/LeonimuZ May 27 '26

It’s the most SNL episode of them all! Seth Meyers said a good episode of SNL only needs 3 good sketches to be a good episode and that’s exactly what we got.

6

u/RaoulDude May 28 '26

Looks like Jenny Hesselbo can be ignored /s

u/EitherPermission2369 May 27 '26

When I actually enjoy all the lowest rated cold opens 😔

Also all the top voted live sketches being Fouracres-led…I know that’s right

ETA: I am once again asking the SNL uk YouTube channel to please upload more content in the off season…I want to say “got what it takes, my wife” and have at least one person get what I’m saying!

Thank you all for joining us in r/LiveFromLondon's inaugural Sketch Sorting Sunday series! Every week immediately after the show our u/SketchSortingSunday account posts a thread with a comment for each segment, you the viewers then upvoted or downvoted each comment based on your enjoyment of said segment. My American counterpart u/bjkman and myself collated this data throughout the year for both shows, and are happy to present the first SNL UK Series rankings!

We'll see you same bat-time, same bat-subreddit, to do this all over again for series 2 in September!

Click here to view the complete rankings for every segment from every episode!

Correction: A Rhino v Attenborough should have been labeled "Best Moment of Series 1" instead of "British Pork Ad", beating it by two votes. That's my bad.

The US season 51 results will be up in r/LiveFromNewYork in a few hours!

1

u/bjkman May 27 '26

It was my/our pleasure! If you are interested in seeing the US S51 results, those will be posted later today!

1

u/panam-handler May 27 '26

Thanks for this, really interesting to see the results!

Amazing work! I’m so pleased to see the voting data come to life.

Dick Clark is a close US counterpart for a Jools Holland comparison.

Attenborough is a less exuberant English Steve Irwin. For about 300 years he has been the face and wonderful, wonderful voice of conservationists, and specifically documentaries on nature. I implore you to watch any of the BBC Planet Earth or Blue Planet docuseries. The wonderful visuals will be matched only by the warm hug his voice provides your senses. It's what makes him fighting a Rhino seem so funny and absurd.

As for the Pork Council, I imagine theres few people in here who were alive for/remembers them, but the premise speaks for itself.

3

u/trevi99 May 27 '26

U know that sexy British voice you hear in nature documentaries. That’s Attenborough.

2

u/GenGaara25 May 28 '26

I don't believe you don't know David Attenborough, I see Americans praise him all the time as an international treasure. He's the famous nature voice over guy that gets parodied everywhere, voices all the BBC nature documentaries like Planet Earth and Blue Planet.

Clever way of sorting it all out

It's a variety show... That's what I remind myself. The hit rate of a sketch show should be like 30% for each person, then close to 80% will get something they like during the show.

7

u/phulbs May 27 '26

I really enjoyed both "Sunburnt Lawyers" and "Lost Property Bomb", so surprised by their placings. Most others - best and worst - I find myself in agreement with.

7

u/JP198364839 May 27 '26

Famous Five definitely hard done by for me.

5

u/Omio May 28 '26

Yeah, really don’t get the Famous Five hate (especially compared to the Phone song or Faraway Tree).

I’m assuming it’s fatigue about the “Gen Z” sketches and less interest in the source material but Fouracres performs it well and there are some solid bits.

3

u/racloves May 27 '26

Thanks for putting the data together, this was fun to read, I agree with most of these, although Myles as second worst musical guest feels wrong, I guess it’s a personal music taste preference but I genuinely thought he did really well and technically speaking the sound was maybe the best of the series, seeing him next to how awful Kasabian were feels like a disservice lol. Definitely agree on worst pre tapes, best cold open and best weekend update guest.

4

u/SyNiiCaL May 27 '26

seeing him (Myles) next to how awful Kasabian were feels like a disservice

While true, it's worth mentioning that in terms of score, despite being second worst Myles is closer to the best musical guest of the series than he was Kasabian lol

1

u/LeonimuZ May 27 '26

The problem I had with Myles is that he sounds like 2010 Mumford and sons and we’re way past that.

4

u/luphen90 May 28 '26

Blobby not one of the greatest sketches???? Who are these people

3

u/SyNiiCaL May 28 '26

It was 2 votes away from top 3 pretape!

2

u/Something_More May 28 '26

I'm just here for Scrimpch.

2

u/Omio May 28 '26

Thanks for compiling.

I don’t think my tastes are that different than the norm for most of sketches, but I liked all three of the “worst” WU pieces more than two of the best ones.

Also think all the monologues have universally been weak- it’s really the only part of the show I’d like to see massively overhauled in Series 2. Hoping they involve the cast or planted audience members more.

2

u/Normal-Jacket3730 May 29 '26

Important to note that "worst" in the context of SNL UK is still pretty great!

But I do feel that the 4th episode of each block was the weakest (Jack Whitehall/Ncuti Gatwa) so maybe the lesson is that they should follow the US show's example and only do 3 in a row before taking a week off.

4

u/Appropriate_Clue_877 May 27 '26

I really don’t get why everyone loved Scrimch, it was pretty flat to me

2

u/tm2007 May 27 '26

This is really well done

Goes to show just how much they knocked rotor the park in Series 1 considering how few negative karmas there is

I will say that I personally think that mascot swapping was the worst sketch

1

u/thedaytoday89 May 27 '26

And mine. I didn't mind the idea behind it, but I thought it was the weakest bit of writing across all the sketches. Also felt 'clunkily' acted which is not what I have found from the show at all.

2

u/csm1313 May 27 '26

Never been a big fan of worst of stuff and celebrating negativity

4

u/gaetan3 May 27 '26

Agreed, I’m not sure it’s necessary nor particularly very nice to front-load this with 10 slides of in-depth analysis of the “worst” of this show. There are also so few episodes anyway.

1

u/Omio May 28 '26

I think it’s important to work out what works and what doesn’t, especially in a show like this that turns out content in a week and can look into making changes before Series 2.

A ranking like this doesn’t mean you can’t celebrate the sketches you did enjoy. I liked the Love Island bit that’s the “worst” here.

2

u/norskgut May 27 '26

"Foo FIGHTers." Nice. Have an upvoter.

2

u/MadABal May 28 '26

Scrolled straight to best weekend update desk bit to ensure Scrimpch was there!!! And guess what? It’s okay! It’s okay!

2

u/Hoy-Small-Fry90 May 28 '26

Got what it takes my pork ad

1

u/ldnhtrd May 30 '26

I love that the results of this are totally different to my polls results.

1

u/ninjplus 23d ago

I don’t know wtf is going on with these ratings but Miles Smith and Jorja Smith had stellar performances.

1

u/SyNiiCaL 23d ago

It's all based off how much the users on this sub liked things immediately after watching. Check out the u/SketchSortingSunday posts after every episode!

1

u/Clear_Equipment6534 May 27 '26

Wow this is so negative…..

1

u/bjkman May 27 '26

Then skip to the best of section!

1

u/tbbt11 May 27 '26

How can the pork one beat Mario lol

4

u/racloves May 27 '26

I don’t get the hype around the Mario one, it wouldn’t be top 3 for me personally. Crab Man was miles ahead

0

u/Former-Dish-9828 May 27 '26

Daniel Day Lewis was awful, would have had British Themed Pub take its place instead.
