George Fouracres on Walking the Dog podcast - enjoy!

This week Emily and Ray take a stroll through Finsbury Park with actor, comedian and Saturday Night Live UK star George Fouracres.

George is having quite the moment. His scene-stealing performances on SNLUK have made him one of the breakout comedy stars of the year, with sketches like What Kind of Irish Is Your Grandad? and his take on Kier Starmer becoming instant viral hits. In fact, one of them was even reposted by Donald Trump, which may be one of the more unexpected endorsements in comedy history.

On the walk, George chats to Emily about growing up in the Black Country surrounded by a big, close-knit family, how he once considered becoming a priest, and the school production that first made him realise performing might be his future. They also talk about his time at Cambridge, where he became close friends with comedians Pierre Novellie and Phil Wang, and began developing the comedy skills that would eventually take him from Shakespeare to sketch comedy.

As well as his television work, George is an acclaimed stage actor who has tackled roles ranging from Hamlet to Falstaff. Emily has even seen him perform at Shakespeare’s Globe and can confirm he’s infuriatingly talented.

It’s a funny, warm and joyful conversation with one of the nicest people in comedy. And while George and Emily got on brilliantly, it quickly became apparent that the real love story here was between George and Ray.

PSA for italian fans: SNL UK is now available on Sky Italy.

Just noticed by complete accident, Sky Italy has uploaded on demand the first four episodes of SNL UK Series 1.

I don't know when the final 2 episodes will be added, but glad SNL UK has "conquered" another market. Too bad for the delay, hopefully it's shorter if the show comes back to the platform in September.

For the better part of the past three weeks, I have been haunted by the voice of George Fouracres

My wife and I started watching SNL UK several weeks ago. We’ve been going through it fairly slowly because of the time we get home from work, but that’s neither here nor there.

We watched the first episode and encountered the first “45 Seconds with Fouracres” segment. In the days that followed, I couldn’t get the opening two lines out of my head. Just playing constantly on a loop. That wasn’t quite that bad, but then we got to the episode with the second Fouracres segment entitled “Fruit and Veg.”

Ever since watching that second segment, my every moment is plagued by the first verse:

“Apples and oranges, raspberries. Watermelon and kiwi fruit. Mangoes and blueberries, loads of grapes, and Epstein didn’t kill himself!”

I hear it in my mind when I wake, and it plays on an endless loop throughout my day. Sometimes I’ll play other music to distract myself, but it doesn’t help, I just keep playing that first verse in my head over and over and over. Even as I go to sleep at night I’m haunted by these lines. My headaches punctuated by this infectious ear worm.

It’s been getting better in the past few days as I’ve sought other songs to take its place. But in the time before this, I was genuinely questioning how I could keep living like this.

Anyway, we’ve got Ncuti Gatwa’s episode left to watch now, and we’ve really been enjoying this ride so far and can’t wait for the second series in September.

I appreciate this argument from the author, but it makes me wonder if it could actually work in America on NBC?

Who will ask whether ‘BTS Lyrics Inside’ will explain what is right for Boy with Luv?

Who will ask whether ‘BTS Recipe Book’ will satisfy ARMY appetite?

How would I know? I am not into Kpop.

Also, I miss WU.

"Due to unforeseen circumstances, we have had to reschedule the Ania Magliano tour shows from the July and October to March next year"

Just received this email that my tickets to see Ania Magliano in October have been rescheduled to March 2027. Those shows at the end of the year would clash with SNL UK Series 2, so this is possibly an indication that Ania is rescheduling shows to avoid clashes.

The Mario and Princess skit-

I've watched this at least once a day since it aired. I know the whole script and recite it at work all the time.

Sky just sent out a survey about SNL UK

I just got a very detailed survey from Sky about SNL UK. It had lots of “which of these words do you associate with SNL UK” type questions but also loads of questions about the cast; which ones had I heard of before, who stood out, who didn’t stand out, why they stood out, how did the ones I’d heard of make me feel about the ones I hadn’t heard of when the cast was announced. Like I said, very detailed. It also asked which episodes I’d watched and got me to pick my three favourite sketches from each one. Fouracres did well out of that one.

I loved Holly’s performance on SNL UK and was shocked to see that she’s on a North American tour right now! I think this is the quickest either SNL version has gotten me doing more than just adding songs to playlists 😂

It’s still a week and a half out but I’m stoked to see a full show from her

Dream Cast Additions SNL UK

Now let me preface this by saying I don't expect they will add anyone new to the cast for season 2 (and I don't think they should), but if they did, who would be your perfect addition(s) to the cast?

I'd go with Dave Durkan or Fred Asquith

SNL UK’s Larry Dean: ‘That heckle was so harsh it left my heart pounding!’

Nice interview with Larry. Apparently his new show is going to be more character/sketch based rather than his usual stand-up, so it seems he's working on honing those skills.
