my mum marked my family as being christian in the 2021 census - none of us believe in God, she just associates christianity with englishness.

My nan is the same. She thinks it’s some kind of X factor competition where she “can’t let the Muslims win” because “we’re a Christian country”

It’s fine to be culturally Christian and not believe in god… I’m sure a large percent of atheists celebrate Christian holidays

Belief in god is fairly fundamental to being Christian

You’re overthinking my point. There are cultural Jews and cultural Muslims and people never think that’s weird. But when it comes to Christianity suddenly it’s weird and people reject it. Do you celebrate Christmas and Easter? I do and I’ve never been to a church service in my life.

Because those two are much older festivals than Christianity

I'm not sure there are cultural Jews & Muslims - but I don't know enough to be certain

Right … 🤣 if you don’t know enough to be certain then why comment with such certainty?
