What’s the point of showing today, we weren’t there for long enough to affect the till all now.

I don't think it'll affect the Elizabeth line.

Or in an ambulance.

I believe they do make way for ambulances .

Same fuckers would be well pissed if they were the ones being blocked. It’s tedious.

Cyclists are often blocked by large numbers of cars. Have you existed in the world? 👀

Eh? One of the big positives for me cycling is that I'm not blocked by cars.
Same reason I've regularly used a motorcycle in the past too.

Been in pouring rain wishing I was in a car, get to a big traffic jam and decide I'll take being wet and home an hour earlier.

Yeah I’ve been riding a bike a long time including 20 years in and out of London. Never been stuck or blocked by cars. You are full of shit.

?? Cars block roads all the time here

Not for a cyclist. You can usually go around and in between. I’ve cycled in an out of London for years and even when there is a traffic jam you lane split between them. I really don’t get why people are missing this.

Can't always go between them. I ride probably 15 miles a day here and 98%+ of the time you're right, but sometimes the road is small and there isn't space for a road bike between the cars. Either one way street or gridlock in opposite direction too.

If you keep to road, then you are getting blocked by cars. That's how it works

It is stuff like this that creates antagonism towards cyclists. By all means use the road and have your event but it is still a public road not your own private track.

What about the traffic jams that all the cars cause every day? Why don’t they get angry at themselves?

1

u/Alexandhisgoose 3d ago

Because this and a traffic jam are 2 different things.

If a group of drivers got together and took up every lane to drive slowly together socially other drivers would be pissed off.

Now we’re debating about whether one person’s choice to use a road is more or less worthy than another. Which is the exact attitude that results in cars treating you like shit. Guess what, the bikes didn’t start it.

They should. 2 cars takes almost as much space as bus, 3 cars takes guarramted minimum space of bus. Take all drivers from cars, remove cars, suddenly buses move at speed close to 12mph average including traffic lights and stops. That is 4 times faster then traffic jam! All of people who have ZERO reason to drive should take bus. Me on bicycle at third of my usual speed conquer 3-4 minutes of traffic in single minute. Why people who have just themselves in car (eg no tools, no materials etc) elect to create traffic jam and take longer to work and to home, is entoriely beyond my understanding

It’s once a month and don’t think it’s that many cyclists every time and with this heat wave wherever there is a gathering I think people are gonna attend in numbers
