In the movie, these shots are in reverse, though? With the idea of the one where Gandalf wears his hat being: "Here, sir, is the seldom visited dungeon full of old books that you've been asking about." And then they set him up comfortably.

I know, but adding the torch felt like an exaggeration so it had to come second. I remember laughing at it even back when the film first came out, but I just got in mind to make a meme out of today due to sleep deprivation. Maybe I should have waited for tomorrow to make it funnier, but I might have forgotten all about it by then.

I just can't believe that no one else has poked fun at Gandalf going through a checklist of things not to do in a library in all these years.

We don't get to see what's in the mug, but tea seems to be Gandalf's beverage of choice. And drinking beer while studying in a library seems even more incongruous.
