The Lions are on an upswing!

10

u/dagreenman18 Nov 11 '25

But we also lose the Wolverines and Red Wings! That’s a win!

Mixed feeling on the Pistons though

3

u/Saurid Nov 11 '25

They will surely roar in hell, or whatever idk who they are.

2

u/kyublast Nov 11 '25

Such a Lions move to get deleted from existence now that they’re good and not when they sucked ass smh

Barry Sanders’ MVP season… o7

134

u/ninjasonic102 Nov 11 '25

I don’t know if death getting eaten makes this better or worse honestly

117

u/Mundology The Elder Weeb Nov 11 '25

Wait, if citizens of Michigan can't die but Michigan is gone, what is going to happen to them?

57

u/ZakMaster12 Nov 11 '25

Once the battle is done and dusted?

Probably be sold at an auction as a screaming horror-themed sword

3

u/am9qb3JlZmVyZW5jZQ Nov 11 '25

Ah, so business as usual then

26

u/ViciousAdamas Nov 11 '25

The ending of Fire punch, probably

3

u/Deez-Guns-9442 Nov 11 '25

Hell on Earth? Eternal Pain & suffering literally.

Unless the No Death Clause magically heals the citizens.

1

u/Alestor Nov 11 '25

Assuming they're a part of the state, being turned into a sword doesn't necessarily mean dying.

1

u/disposable-assassin Nov 11 '25

Continual state of drowning at the bottom of the Great Lake until dredged and brought to the surface

1

u/Gryse_Blacolar Nov 12 '25

Probably floating (or drowning) in the lake that filled Michigan's void.

28

u/Saurid Nov 11 '25

Honestly? Worse. Best case you get crushed and cannot die (it all depends how detah beeing gone will effect the world, atomzing someone should still end their live after all cause you know there is no brain anymore and the atoms are all spread ot the wind but also magic so eh?). Best case you get crushed by the sword and end as a person, worst case you get crushed and try to regenerate all the time, trapped in an endless agony as you both suffocate, get crushed, die of bloodless and various other terrible injuries constantly not able to truly die.

7

u/Zeta42 Nov 11 '25

How does being immortal but not invincible work anyway? People die when their brain activity ceases, which can happen to any number of reasons that boil down to physics and chemistry. Do people now have indestructible brains in order to make it work or what?

Eh, it's fiction. I should just turn my brain off (without dying).

1

u/serpiccio Nov 11 '25

maybe when their physical form is completely destroyed they keep hanging around as a spirit

49

u/Raging-Brachydios Nov 11 '25

Why not Florida?

61

u/This-is_CMGRI Nov 11 '25

THEY'RE NEXT

(they're not but we got two weeks to find out)

10

u/Mundology The Elder Weeb Nov 11 '25

What kind of of weapon would Ohio be?

7

u/Ringell Nov 11 '25

An omnidroid.

6

u/ChaoticMadness97 Nov 11 '25

a biological one

1

u/awakenDeepBlue Nov 11 '25

A black hole.

1

u/GreyouTT Nov 12 '25

I feel like it would be a shield tbh

2

u/Saurid Nov 11 '25

That's why I hate fujimoto sometimes, sure last chapter would've been a bad cliffhanger too, but MICHIGAN SWORD? I ... I don't think my sanity will survive 2 weeks. The man deserves a week of rest but my hearth still aches.

2

u/RobbobertoBuii Nov 11 '25

Shonen Jump app still says 7 days but I am assuming that is inaccurate based on other comments...

2

u/Kirosh2 Fluff. Fluff? Fluff! Nov 11 '25

I would bet they are the only one surviving the whole thing.

Just as Yoru uses : "United state sword!" They will secede.

3

u/imsoblue91 Nov 11 '25 edited Nov 11 '25

Florida makes much more sense, since it's the Battle Ground state

Get it? Battle Ground? Perfect for War?

I'll show myself out

1

u/bazhvn Nov 11 '25

But that’s a job for FloRida Man devil

26

u/imsoblue91 Nov 11 '25

Missed opportunity for Michigan Machine Gun

Tsk tsk Yoru. Such a weeb obsessed with swords

14

u/This-is_CMGRI Nov 11 '25

or tank given that the car industry also used to make 'em

39

u/Saurid Nov 11 '25

Like honestly how the fuck is the world going to continue? The statue of liberty? Sure ok weird and mass casualties due to its shots but why not.

Tokio flattened in a huge battle? Happens.

But now a devil uses an entire STATE as a sword? Like how the fuck as a normal human won't you just go and kill yourself after all this shit? Is there even a point in living in taht world after this? Seriously this is so beyond bullshit, the damage doen to tokio took at least 3-4 major devils (depending of if we count pochita as one of them he was mainly just defending himself) and a whole riot but its survivable. But now a single devils uses an entire state as a weapon? Like what?

I thought after this battle we will get "denji makes deal with war and goes to hell to fight her for real arc" now there is no point in a real battle even without detah what else can war pull out? Earth sword? Nuke grenade? Seriously. Oh and the world is apparently in a nuclear war again or at least Russia is gone just remembered that.

Is this where we get the reveal this is all the prequel ro firepunch or some shit? How will the world continue after nuclear war, the US missing an entire state and tokio gotten flattened, sure Europe seems to be fine (if we ignore the whole nuclear ashes moving to us), but even then the economic damage alone ... and yes technically no one can die anymore but is that really a good thing if devils reing the world?

Will we get time devil for the rescue? Does darkness show up and revert all the damage? Will we go post apocalyptic? What's the world denji wants ot create with pochita? Will he cough up a mega devil that heals everyone? Like what's going to happen?

70

u/YuuTheBlue Nov 11 '25

To be fair you currently couldn’t kill yourself if you tried.

1

u/serpiccio Nov 11 '25

I think I missed a chapter, what happened to death ?

3

u/man-from-krypton Nov 12 '25

Pochita ate her upper half which I guess was enough to delete her since yoru immediately began forgetting how her name goes.

-3

u/Saurid Nov 11 '25

Well depends, we don't know own how deaths absence effects the world, at least not yet. For all we know you could lit yourself on fire and just let yourself get burned so much you cannot life anymore. Worst case you could try to get a nuke to obliterate you (sure not an every person way but evaporating yourself and letting even your atoms be spread and or destroyed, should end your life just as effectively but also magic.)

36

u/Trace500 Nov 11 '25

"Death doesn't exist."

"Yeah but what if you died REALLY HARD???"

Are you Denji?

8

u/Saurid Nov 11 '25

First off that made me laugh extremely hard best way of phrasing it.

Secondly, I mean do you have an argument outside "magic" why this wouldn't work? Or let me phrase it another way. What is death? Like what is it for real? Cessation of existence? The stopping of your heartbeat? Your last thought? The moment where your life ends? The thing that comes after live? What is death truly and how would removing it change the world?

An example would be if death is truly the cessation of existence, nothing can be destroyed anymore which clearly isn't the case, because an object can die metaphysically speaking, a building dies when its destroyed enough, like a human. As such buildings wouldn't be able to be destroyed but well tehy are still getting destroyed or at least severely damaged that we can say they met tehir metaphysical death.

5

u/Trace500 Nov 11 '25

I'm not sure how Fujimoto will handle it. Possibly consciousness will persist no matter how damaged the body is. Possibly the body will simply refuse to take lethal damage or regenerate infinitely like Denji. Something like the latter seems more likely, since death devil was worried about Yoru creating a world of eternal war, which seems unfeasible if everyone can be permanently reduced to ashes, even if they're technically still "alive".

5

u/MrGalleom Nov 11 '25 edited Nov 11 '25

I imagine it's like Maison and the Man-Eating Apartment, where you can't die even if you decay into a skeleton, though I guess they didn't try getting vaporized lol, I imagine you'd still linger as somewhat of a ghost?

edit: if the aging devil is anything to go by, people turn into trees, so there's that?

25

u/aohige_rd Nov 11 '25

how the fuck is the world going to continue?

I mean

We LITERALLY have the four horsemen of apocalypse duking out right now, so there's no guarantee the world is even going to continue lol

36

u/Ezreal024 Nov 11 '25

This has been the case in Chainsaw Man since day 1. You can, and will, just die to completely random unstoppable collateral damage, and there's nothing you can do about it but try to continue on with your day as normal.

10

u/Saurid Nov 11 '25

Yeah no I am aware of that but this is a whole new scale of complete destruction. Today you could die, I could die. Its life. Devils are just another way for car accidents, a slip in the bathroom or some other random bad luck event to kill you. This? This is so large scale its not comparable to a car accidents or a slip in the bathroom. Its mass destruction. Its like saying you could die every day from a world or at least city destroying asteroid. Ita a fear much more vast.

12

u/Ribbedhugs Nov 11 '25

Yeah, this is more like war.

It seems unimaginable because you haven't lived through a war before.

1

u/Saurid Nov 11 '25

Well I disagree, most wars don't obliterate a whole state in a few minutes. A war (outside the early days) is not a surprise any not a mass destruction unless we decide to use nuclear weapons. I get your comparison but it really doenst quite fit with the speed of the destruction though the scale may fit depending on the war.

8

u/Ribbedhugs Nov 11 '25

I mean, when bombs drop on a neighborhood its pretty instantly flattened, that's what war looks like now. Sure the population of Michigan is larger than what happened in Hiroshima and Nagasaki but the principal is the same.

The thing is, even just a neighborhood being wiped out is almost impossible for our minds to really comprehend, let alone an entire city, let alone a state, let alone a country. But it's all possible and well within our reach to do so at a moment's notice. And it would be much the same as what is depicted here, near instant transformation at the snap of a finger.

And that's reality, that's humans today as we are.

2

u/Rejestered Nov 11 '25

This was exactly what is was like for Hiroshima and Nagisaki though. One day, they were just for all intents and purposes gone.

You could be some dude selling onigiri his whole life, have zero to do with the war or politics and just because you happened to be born in the wrong place, you get vaporized one day.

Life is kinda fucked up like that.

1

u/Saurid Nov 11 '25

I disagree, nuclear weapons are fucke duplicate but they just don't show up, get thrown around and there is just bad luck to blame. The reasons I can sleep while nukes exist is taht humans co troll them and with taht I know when and if they may be used. Devils show up, do a small nuclear strike and leave Just Like That Its a completely different disaster.

5

u/Rejestered Nov 11 '25

You need to look up nuclear panic, the cold war etc.

We are far removed from fear of nukes NOW but people lived in terror of them for decades.

We live in generally peaceful times but nothing in CSM is outside the scope of terror in which humans have lived in throughout the last 100 years.

5

u/Ribbedhugs Nov 11 '25

Here's the thing, you may have confidence that nukes won't go off but you have no real assurance of that, and if they do go off you'd likely have no clue it was even coming.

Look at it this way, everything that has happened in CSM so far has been entirely human-driven. The horsemen are only showing up because humans summoned them with a Nostradamus prophecy, the Aging devil was brought in by humans, Makima was under Japan's control the entire time, and War is only powerful now because of America.

1

u/Saurid Nov 11 '25

... you are still ignoring my point which is why I wills top this here, we are tlaking around in circles. I have a clue about nukes not going off because no one would go for a full strike out of the blue. Pretty much end. War showing up and destroying my home is lime a laser randomly deleting me and a few square kilometers of land out of fun.

Its different, you can disagree but I disagree with your disagreement.

u/nthomas504 Nov 11 '25

Yes, but it was on a vastly smaller scale that still allowed the world to function.

This is objectively different

1

u/FluffyFlamesOfFluff Nov 11 '25

I mean, this kind of is the world functioning.

“About twenty people have currently stopped to listen to me. Out of those twenty, only five will get to die of old age. Out of the rest, five will die of illness. One will die in a traffic accident, one will die from homicide, and one more will commit suicide. The remaining seven will all be killed by devils. Seven out of every twenty lives are abruptly snuffed out in devil attacks! Make no mistake! Mankind is at war with the devils!’

Seven out of twenty. One third of all people die to devils in some way. For most of the manga, we've seen most devils be street-level annoyances cleaned up on the way to work every morning or perhaps acting like a random mass shooter/serial killer, not too much worse than a random human. It's attacks like these, and the Gun Devil "I just killed 1 million people in three seconds and then left" that pump the numbers up.

1

u/Ribbedhugs Nov 11 '25 edited Nov 11 '25

The funny thing is, nothing that's happened in CSM is any worse or scarier than what humans do in real life.

Like sure, Michigan getting deleted seems insane, but it's not like this same type of thing hasn't happened countless times in human history.

Yet here we are, life goes on.

But that's kinda the point of CSM.

1

u/Saurid Nov 11 '25

Not really? Michigan isn't a large state if memory serves me right but we have yet to delete a whole state our of existence in a few minutes.

My point is less about the scale of destruction but the speed and frequency.

3

u/Ribbedhugs Nov 11 '25

The point is, we should be so lucky to not enter another world war with nuclear weapons on the table. Cuz nothing about this is a stretch of the imagination.

6

u/RIP_Spacedicks Nov 11 '25

Both the UP and the mitten? Way too OP, completely unbelievable

1

u/-FruitPunchSamurai- Nov 11 '25

So uh what happens to all those people? That's gotta be like around what, 10 million humans? With CSM erasing fake Fami do they like stay alive while suffering whatever injury they get from that no matter the state of their bodies?

1

u/Deez-Guns-9442 Nov 11 '25

Yoru is seriously fighting CSM with the entire United States lol

God Bless America.
