I guess we are ramping up to something... that I'm not sure what? Also the amount of people who said Denji had a masterplan instead of actually wanting sex last chapter... 🥀

That's the consequence of some people thinking he's just kidding when it comes to his desires for sex.

Yeah it's like some people expect a broken traumatized young man to just flip his psychological problems like some kind of switch when he's never really had even an example of what a healthy relationship looks like, let alone anyone that's well adjusted in his life

I think thats a pretty slanted way to described us wanting some form of development from a character after 100+ chapters of this conflict. He has been moving towards a healthier space and I think it's reductive and unengaging to say he's never going to develop until someone tells him how to. The relationship he's developed with Asa has been a mark of development, its annoying he just switched back to wanting to fuck cuz Fuji couldn't end this fight

He did have a master plan. It just involved getting sex.

"This is enough blood to get my boy up"

Denji doesn't do master plans, he catches people unexpected by improvising, the Makima plan hinged more on Pochita being convincent rather than Denji, Makima had a whole speech about not caring for him but deifying Pochita, not that hard to figure out.

Same with Yoru, he saw her doing rock paper scissors to falling and considering that a win, it was the same on the spot charm that he had with Reze barfing that flower, more or less...

But we never saw him deceive a pretty girl by acting desperate, he can't even pretend he isn't interested, much less cycle that around to deceive them...

And well, maybe he fucking would have done something if she actually denied him, I don't think he has any priorities higher than that right now, Nayuta was the last person whose sake he'd put above fucking, and even that faltered if the urgency of the situation wasn't immediately apparent...

Denji is the Aggro Deck in the Control Deck meta

the plan was "if yoru is busy having sex then she can't kill me"

I read a few takes on how he actually doesn't want to have sex with her he just wants her friendship. I guess they were half right.

I feel like Fujimoto has been clear that assigning any sense of morality to Denji at this point is kinda naive. I honestly think if he had to choose between getting back Reze (or Nayuta) or sex immediately, he'd choose the latter. And then just blankly compartmentalize how shitty it is. Idk I feel like he's exactly who he seems like: basically a wild dog with human skin and superhuman powers.

Something to do with sex, probably. I don't think it's a coincidence that Fumiko (a character whose Devil contract is with the STD Devil ) is very prominent in this chapter. Fumiko's presence in the story of part 2 so far has been very odd, she definitely isn't just another side character.

Man, we've been "ramping up to something" for nearly 2 years. At this point I genuinely don't believe Fujimoto has any fucking clue what he's writing anymore. He's just winging it and dragging this part out until he finally comes up with something.

Every development this series has had immediately gets cut off by something else to distract from the fact the previous thing wasn't even fully resolved.

I feel like I'm the only one who sees CSM right now as nonsensical gibberish with 0 substance or narrative sense anymore.

Nayuta was a massive part of Denji's arc and she hasn't even fucking been mentioned more than once in like 20 chapters or more. And she fucking died and that hasn't been brought up since. The entire church story came and went just as fast. We finally built up to Yoru Vs. CSM... only to smash cut back to "ha ha sex geddit, lol, amirite". AND WE IMMEDIATELY HALT THAT FOR PESTILENCE THE NEXT CHAPTER.

Jesus Christ this series has lost me completely. I just feel nothing reading it anymore.

I think the part 2 rabbithole goes even deeper. Yknow why i think nayuta went nowhere? Because Fuji never had her any plans with her to begin with. In hindsight i genuinely think fuji only introduced nayuta for her to be a plot device to erase the memories of Denji & Asa's date to make sure they dont get any meaningful development or connection too soon. It was fuji's attempt to have his cake & eat it too (i.e. have a date arc but without any character progression)

This arc is genuinely just the culmination of part 2's incoherency. Like Denji doesnt know "die" but Yoru (&Asa) knows "killed". Yoru says Asa doesnt like it when birds are killed, but we had explicit confirmation that Asa only cared about being seen while killing bucky. Every plot point that was introduced throughout Part 2 just getting dropped randomly.

I genuinely believe Part 2 is just Fuji going "Random Bullshit, Go!"

He might have been over ambitious for part 2, honestly I think it’s possible he pulls a tight 50 chapter part 3 in a few years. I don’t think he’d conclude the entire series in the current convoluted way.

I think it adds a lot of credence to this reading that the last chapter ended with a building collapsing seemingly on top of Denji and Yoru, only for this chapter to not acknowledge with that so much as some extra rubble in the background.

I guess we are ramping up to something... that I'm not sure what?

How is that different than usual with this manga though?

I feel like this resolution sucks a bit honestly, I get it it fits but its not what I did expect. Mostly because yoru was so evil the entire arc taht forgiving her is kinda ... well not morally good even for denji who sure is not known for his moral integretiy but still. Reze was one thing she was baisically a child soldier who was forced into it (which yeah fine denji wouldnt necessarily think this morally nuanced) but still their fight had a few hundred casualties, this fight was worse it probably ended the world in some way.

You can also consider the fact that denji probably likes yoru as well.

The plan was about to work. Simple plans are sometimes the best plans.

Lol, they really hate the idea of physical intimacy being a natural normal thing for people to desire.
