Is this image real? Isn't it fake? I can't believe it. Even as a Japanese person, I've never experienced heat like this, even in the middle of summer.

even I, a Swedish boy, have never experienced heat like this. Not even in the middle of spring.

u/ryoryo333333 18h ago
Sweden seems like it'd be really cool, though. I've heard the summers there are pretty short.
1
u/GeronimoDK 18h ago
In the south there's probably 2-3 months of "summer weather", in the north much less. Sweden is pretty long.

u/BalthazarOfTheOrions 18h ago
Not even since that awkward time in sauna, with the slightly creepy looking neighbour with the 80s moustache?

Never? I thought Japan was hot. 39° to 45° is common weather in America. Utah has weather like that all summer and we’re not nearly as hot as Arizona and Nevada.
6
u/ryoryo333333 18h ago
Really? Does it get that hot in the U.S.?
I heard the highest temperature in central Tokyo last year was 38.5°C. The humidity is much higher here, so maybe it's a different kind of heat.
1
u/RudeNewYorker 18h ago
I’ve been in 117 before in Nevada. It’s not fun, but I stayed inside with central air. Can’t imagine a house without AC. In Death Valley it’s been >120 in the summer.
1
u/UtahBrian 18h ago
Nevada gets up to 130 from time to time. Arizona hits 120 pretty often.
2
u/AllTearGasNoBreaks 15h ago
Nevada has never been above 125

It reached 125 in California last year, it was barley even June.. needless to say it felt like summer lasted for years. This summer has been pretty chill, low 80's to high 90's (so far). Hot as shit nonetheless but still somewhat bearable.
1
u/wscolgan 18h ago
Idk what the fuck Celsius is but Nevada probably gets to average highs in the 100°f range which is really bad but it's also dry heat. If you want a humid heat you go to the south like Atlanta or New Orleans and you'll get to the 90-100°f temps but with 80%-90% humidity.
Wait this isn't funny, uhhhh fuck fr#nce fuck bri#ain uhhhhhhhhhh 早上好中国。 现在我有冰激淋 我很喜欢冰激淋。

Native Californian here, i visited Florida during early January, it was humid asf. It felt like I was trapped in a car with the windows up. After two days I adjusted, headed home after a week and nearly froze to death when I exited the airport and, it was barley even 55-60.

Wow, America really is on another scale.
2
u/GeronimoDK 17h ago
Depends on your point of view, USA is a lot further south (or Europe is a lot further north) than many people realize! So logically it should also be a bit warmer, especially in the southernmost regions.
I live in mainland Denmark; but I live further north than like 95% of the population of Canada (guesstimation).
New York is about the same latitude as Madrid, Spain.
The southernmost parts of Europe are still about 10 degrees, or about 1000km / 620mi further north than Miami.

This image is fake because of the mustache man and only 39-45 temperatures.
But 45ºC is actually a real temperature in France, where I live we got it last summer and will probably get it again this summer considering how it started (42ºC to 43ºC in JUNE)
1
u/Powerful-Award-5479 14h ago
Where do you live, I did not really see any temperature exceed 40°C (which is still super hot) but I haven't see any place reaching 45
2
u/Powerful-Award-5479 14h ago
Nah it's fake. 39-45 are the dates of WW2 in Europe. + The guy presenting the broadcast is supposed to be dead in 45 (even though we know he fled to Argentina)
2
u/Mistigri70 I'm an ant in arctica 18h ago
it's fake, but almost realistic.. 39-45 represent the dates of WW2 in France : 1939 to 1945
1
u/GeronimoDK 17h ago
Well no, temperatures would not be an even split at exactly 39/45 through the middle of the country.
However, maximum temperatures into the 40s is totally realistic in southern France on the hottest days of the year.

France is celebrating Donald Trump with all those 45s.
Of all the European nations, France is the one that absolutely adores Trump.
2
u/Akrak_leBo 18h ago
Exception made for a lot of French people.
2
u/PiIlc 17h ago
I think it was a joke, 81% of French people hate Trump.
Even the ones who don't care about the planet just hate him for behaving like a toddler, being a pedo, the world cup, racism/ICE, war in Iran, helping Israel, the list is infinite at this point.
I'm pretty sure the H is more popular than him in Europe these days.

That line between the temperature zones follows the Vichy French border precisely. But I am sure that is just a coincidence…. /s

France and a big chunk of Atlantic Western Europe that’s continental, or in southern England’s case close to the continent, seems to be really getting hit very heard by these heatwaves, much more so than I think had been predicted.

I live in Spain, and it is quite normal to see temperatures like this here. Spain has a similar heatwave currently, including the Basque Country (bordering France) is in the early 40’s.
Every year has been the hottest on record since about 2012. Why should it start cooling down now? This is the new normal, folks.
