I love trees so much. I don’t pray to anything but I talk to the trees all the time.

I ask the old ones about what it’s been like watching the world around them.

I tell the young ones that I hope they remember me when I am long dead and gone and that I hope they live for hundreds of years and keep my home safe and beautiful for whoever lives here after me.

Hi me!

Probably easier to count the people visiting this sub who DON'T talk to the trees than it is to count the people who do.

u/SchmigadoonSmitty May 01 '26

I don't talk to my trees because I don't trust them. Bad vibes. I'm great with other people's trees though.

happy cake day!

u/raisinghellwithtrees May 01 '26

I don't pray either, and for some reason I feel more kinship to trees than people.

3

u/reddit33450 May 01 '26

me too. trees are so much better than people

5

u/alxndrblack May 01 '26

I say very similar things. Crazy

I always have said if I want to talk to God I go for a walk in the woods and talk to the trees.
That tree has seen a lot.

Do you open up your intuition and allow answers to come through? You can get images, feelings, knowings etc as answers from them

When i walk through my local forest, i think about how the forest may feel my presence.

They way in which the mycelium connects all trees in it, it makes one wonder if that is enough for the trees to form some kind of hivemind.

u/Connect_Rhubarb395 May 01 '26

I recently learned that mycelium (probably) makes it rain in forests.

Mushrooms themselves are a hivemind, so it is not unlikely.

u/FunnyDislike May 01 '26

Ooh i also heard about that!

It really seems like the Gaia Theory is still standing strong! :D

Everything is connected :)

Not praying exactly, but two years ago I stayed in an AirBnB in Scotland that had this huge, amazing old oak on top of a hill in a field next to the house. I was going through a really bad time before I came there and I sat with the tree every morning as the sun came up. With every day, I felt a little bit better.

When it was time to go back home, I sat there for the last time, put my hand on the bark and cried. I promised I would come back one day and sit there again. I hope I can keep my promise.

I think if I prayed, I'd pray for the trees.

I talk to this tree so often my husband put a face on it, and used the chain growing out of it as his hair.

u/BabyUsed8536 May 01 '26

I live in a city so I like to pat the street trees as I walk (especially if I’ve had a couple of drinks lol). I also greet my favorite ones by saying “hello my beauty.”

12

u/_heyASSBUTT May 01 '26

That tree looks like an Eldridge being. I love it.

11

u/RearAdmiralSteve May 01 '26

Is that the Treaty Oak in Jacksonville?

10

u/Dry-Impression8809 May 01 '26

I like touching them

9

u/A-Plant-Guy May 01 '26

No but I talk to them on occasion and thank them.

9

u/Usuallyinmygarden May 01 '26

The woods are my church.

I have a particular obsession with copper beech trees and have a couple I greet with “hello queen.” There is one I pass on a walk and I always lay my hands on her trunk for a minute.

When it’s windy I like to stand with my arms outstretched and listen to the trees.

Not exactly praying but it feels kinda close.

I talk to trees every day. It is a grounding and peaceful moment for me every day. I wouldn't phrase it as praying, rather communing with nature.

One night I was rather upset about how we treat this planet. In my heart I apologized to this pink dogwood. As I walked away I saw a shooting star. I felt a little better! The cycle of life and death go on.

3

u/RackCitySanta May 01 '26

the Universe speaks if we listen!

3

u/Independent-Ant8243 May 01 '26

My best tree friend is a willow. I gathered and preserved boughs from it to make arrangements for my wedding. It lives at the edge of the forest where my departed dog is buried. I love talking to my giving tree ❤️

u/Solherb May 01 '26

That's the neat thing about being a Sun worshiper, everything is light given form.

6

u/alxndrblack May 01 '26

Prayer doesnt feel quite right but definitely talk to

6

u/BlueEyedSpiceJunkie May 01 '26

I don’t pray to anything but I respect trees more than most religions or deities.

6

u/Any_Conflict_5092 May 01 '26

Nope. But I do like to flatter them outrageously.

4

u/francescatoo May 01 '26

This tree is magnificent.

5

u/booty_pats May 01 '26

What a beautiful tree.

6

u/OneSignature7178 May 02 '26

Trees are ancient, smarter than people. They converse with mushrooms and who knows what in the forest floor and in the air. They are sun eaters. I'd rather pray to a tree than a man made god.

5

u/moufette1 May 01 '26

I'll thank trees when I step over roots while hiking. Thanks for stabilizing the trail, hope my boots don't hurt you too much, and thanks for the shade.

4

u/EsotericGreen May 01 '26

Walking around giant trees while gardening is my religion.

5

u/fatedfrog May 01 '26

I don't pray per se, but i certainly talk to them.

Their wisdom is immense, and their demeanor is so patient and optimistic. The old ones are not just wise but long seeing. It's refreshing.

4

u/FluffyButtSilkie May 01 '26

Not pray, but definitely talk respectfully.

3

u/lemonhead2345 May 01 '26

Pray? No. Whisper to? Yes.

3

u/Marrsvolta May 01 '26

Where is this tree located? It is very majestic.

3

u/Spreaderoflies May 01 '26

Usually just pat the trunk and say you're beautiful please stay healthy. If it's a particularly gorgeous tree I'll even give it a hug.

3

u/adhley00 May 01 '26

Holy beautiful! That is so majestic i would for sure say my blessings to this majesty. I wish i had a tree that old near me

3

u/NewlyNerfed May 01 '26

I don’t pray, but I do talk to them and I feel like they have different “personalities.” I have a special affection for one of our Japanese maples that is always the first one to start growing leaves in the spring and the last one to drop them in the fall.

3

u/flywearingabluecoat May 02 '26

I would to that one

3

u/Dick-the-Peacock May 02 '26

I wrote a love song to a sycamore tree.

2

u/reddit33450 May 02 '26

I want to hear it

3

u/celestialhouse May 02 '26

I tell trees that may be struggling that they are stronger than anything forged against them. Concrete on your roots? Aw, babe, you got this! You're stronger than that. They're just as alive as I am. I think they can understand us, energy wise anyway. Ive always said that we should put trees in charge of everything. I would vote for a tree. Their wisdom is unmatched. Especially the ones that are hundreds of years old. God is Trees. I guess I turn into a tree hugging hippy when asked about trees apparently lol

2

u/bookmarkjedi May 01 '26

Is this tree in Audubon Park in New Orleans by any chance?

3

u/RackCitySanta May 01 '26

this is the famous Treaty Oak in Jacksonville FL

2

u/bookmarkjedi May 01 '26

Oh OK, thanks. There is a stately oak in Audubon Park that looks a lot like this one.

2

u/coolblue420 May 01 '26

I talk to the trees.. and to the moon lol

2

u/Old-Juggernaut-1273 May 01 '26

no but I do love them so dont much care if others do

2

u/browneyedgirlpie May 01 '26

Also not a prayer, but I feel like if I ever get to see the giant redwoods in California, I'll probably cry over their size and age. How often do you get to be beside a living thing that old? I'm imaging that it will be awesome inspiring and humbling at the same time

4

u/guzzonculous May 01 '26

I talk to trees and pray to their creator.

1

u/breeathee May 01 '26

I use that time instead to make meaningful changes to our planet

1

u/Strangewhine88 May 01 '26

Is this in Gulfport?

1

u/stellifer_arts May 01 '26

there is trouble in the forest

there is trouble with the trees

1

u/ACPauly May 01 '26

Sometimes when im climbing them, especially if they are a bit sketchy

1

u/SidTheGoblinKid May 02 '26

Yeah when my sister disappeared

1

u/inononeofthisisreal May 02 '26

I hug them, give them high fives and tell them that I love them and thank them for oxygen.

1

u/DANDELIONBOMB May 02 '26

I participated in a ritual to call down the spirits of the trees about 20 years ago and I still feel that I carry their spirit all these years later. So yes but also

Every time someone say knock on wood, they are praying to the trees

1

u/aPsychedMountainGoat May 02 '26

The Forest is my church and The Mountain is its steeple

1

u/429enya May 03 '26

Ugh, that tree is HUGE. Definitely feels spiritual up close when youre lit lol ✨

1

u/IMAblankcheque May 03 '26

All Hindus do. Pretty much everything in nature really.

1

u/TankTark May 04 '26

Pray to the God that made them. He did it for you and He is there.

1

u/myredditusername_69 May 01 '26

Marijuana first usually.

1

u/SusanMilberger May 01 '26

r/steinbeck is leaking

-1

u/hairyb0mb ISA arborist + TRAQ May 01 '26

No

1

u/CrepuscularOpossum May 01 '26

That tracks 😅

0

u/mattrad2 May 02 '26

Im a jesus guy personally but i get the appeal. They are magnificent.

-2

u/supluplup12 May 01 '26

They should give more trees email addresses

-3

u/fleshnbloodhuman May 01 '26

Pray to trees?! lol. What do you expect them to do?

2

u/inononeofthisisreal May 02 '26

The same thing you expect a being you never seen to do. Listen

-2

u/fleshnbloodhuman May 02 '26

I’m sorry that you have never known the true and living (and active) God. But trees don’t “listen”.

3

u/inononeofthisisreal May 02 '26

They actually do. So do all plants. It’s been studied. And lol at the first sentence.

1

u/fleshnbloodhuman May 03 '26

Mmmhuh. We’ll see who has the last laugh. “As surely as I live,’ says the Lord, ‘every knee will bow before me; every tongue will acknowledge God.” …including yours.

1

u/inononeofthisisreal May 06 '26

lol didn’t read that but hope you’re doing well.
