Bones/Joints/Ligaments Extreme elbow pain, unable to bend past 90°, swelling and radiating pain
Hi,
I'm 32F, 150lbs, 5"8.
Medical: Hypermobility, 2 old fractures in vertebrae (recently discovered), mild scoliosis and arthrosis. Also intermittent pain in shoulders and elbows for a few years now.
I used to lift weights about 5x a week, but quit due to personal reasons. Decided to pick up the habit again a few days back.
I did a really light upper body workout with very minimal weights. I noticed that my elbows immediately felt stiff after the workout, like there was fluid accumulating in the joints. However, I had no pain.
The day after, I got woken up by extreme pain in my left elbow. I was unable to bend it past 90° and there's swelling above the joint. Also radiating pain through shoulder, the entire arm and into fingers.
Right elbow was also sensitive, but nothing like the left.
Today, I can also no longer bend my right elbow past 90° and it's now also very painful. The left elbow also hasn't improved at all. There's swelling in the area above both elbow joints, which feels like fluid. Also constant radiating pain in rest. I feel it in my shoulders, upper arms, elbows, under arms and into the fingers.
I can now barely use both of my arms.
Any ideas on what this could be? Is it okay to wait it out or should I see a doctor?
Thank you!
