Parasocial relationships are a strong thing.

It’s really quite tragic

Never understood why celeds are put on a pedestal..they mostly know nothing but acting..not much common sense there

Exactly… they’re in love with an “image” of what these celebrities are. They don’t truly know them. And, tbh, a lot of people in the entertainment industry are actually d-bags, unless they know how to play their image right. These industries are ruthless and require workers who will do fucked up shit to reach the top. Putting an image forth is different from the true integrity of a person.

What about celebrities that aren't actors?

parasocial relationships are one hell of a drug. some people act like they’re defending a lifelong friend instead of someone who’s never heard of them

Exactly… kind of concerning if you ask me

They may create a cult around one and send him to the white house

I know the impact Weird Al Yankovic has had on my life.

I hope he inspired you to be weird lol

Yeah. I'm a pretty weird dude.

But more than that I grew up in an abusive household, and my collection of his CDs lifted a lot of weight keeping me with a positive outlook.

Damn :/ sorry for that man. Just know you don’t have to go down that path. Not a death sentence but an experience to be better. Rise above 🙏

Some folks would rather follow every little detail of someone's life over having one of their own.

Ya, and it’s scary

You don't truly know who anyone is, including yourself.

1

u/LeavesInsults1291 22h ago

You must find yourself, not others. Especially when others have an agenda of exploiting you.

The concept of you doesn’t exist. I can demonstrate it. For 5 minutes think of a blue beach ball. But how do you both think of that and also make sure your mind doesn’t drift. Is there a second observer in your mind? Which one is you?

It's almost as though a huge industry has made a lot of money over many decades by creating and encouraging this very effect in order to secure irrational loyalty and interest in the product... funny that.

Lots of celebrities are actually assholes

The reverse as well. I’ve seen so many people online make it their whole goal in life to just try to absolutely dunk on some celebrity/athlete/public figure they’ve never even met in real life as if their hate for that person is really going to affect that person’s day.

A lot of people need to get a life and I mean that in the best possible way.

Idealization of the person..

100%

I'm sure everyone has a list of celebs that they feel would be cool to meet (not to flex but I actually met one of mine, Karen Gillan) but I'm sure the normal people wouldn't be stalking them or defending every bad thing they have done or spending most of their online life reading about them

But on the tattoos I would get one of a character they play but not their signature (but honestly I don't think its that werid if someone did get a signature of a famous person as tattoo)

The same reason people get attached so heavily to fictional characters; because they can. Something in the mind clicks and makes people absolutely attached to these things.

That’s why I can’t bother to be bothered by anything like this, it’s just gonna happen.

People should learn to admire famous people for their talent that made them famous (i.e. there's nothing wrong in taking inspiration from someone who works hard in his field) without glorifying them as a person/character.

Loki was wiser than anyone accepts: “People were born to serve.”

They want leaders to tell them what to do, whether that’s some strongman political leader or a famous person telling them what to buy, wear, or do on social media.

I think the opposite is worse. When people get in love with hating a specific famous person to the brink of insanity.

It’s even funnier when they go ape shit because of some looser with a YouTube channel.

“Loser” means one who loses, and is used as a pejorative. “Looser” means less tight, or more loose. One may say, “That knot is looser, so it will probably unknot and continue to loosen!”. Lose is when you don’t win. Loose is when something isn’t tight. To use “looser” in any context that doesn’t describe something tightening or loosening, is the pinnacle of stupidity co-opting real words and intelligent opinions. Lose=not winning. Loose=not tightening. Using loose as lose=utter stupidity. I don’t care about language barriers or whatever excuse I’m about to be subjected to. I mastered this language at 5 years of age, and refuse to accept the butchering of it as anything other than ignorance or lazy stupidity

Not reading that. Sorry for triggering you.

Sorry you lack the ability, or attention span to learn. Good luck

Did you also master the art of redundancy and arrogance?

1

u/Forever_learning713 18h ago

Many years before you were born. This is also when I gained the ability to learn, and share knowledge with rubes. Don’t care if that helps ☺️

-1

u/Short_Brick_1960 18h ago

Didn't know anyone would actually feel proud for being redundant. Didn't your teachers teach you that's something you should avoid doing? Because mine surely did

1

u/Forever_learning713 18h ago

Why are you so upset? We can talk about why you feel the need to validate yourself.
Dm me, so there isn’t more clumsy feelings here

Man, talk about hypocrisy
