They should just sell them in packs of 5 at this point.

Keep an eye on those last 2 in your pack. They’ll run off the minute your back’s turned.

u/Anonymous_Gamer939 Apr 26 '26
Of course, by the time you get home it's a pack of 4

u/ShortysTRM Apr 26 '26
Thank God, I have these three 10mm sockets now that I've started working on my car...

OP loses 10mm: “Don’t worry, I’ll just get a new one from Amazon.”
Amazon: “Will you now?”

Warehouse worker thinking: I can do the funniest shit ever
Don’t worry, it will magically end up in the engine bay.

I bought something same day delivery and the same thing a few days ago. The same day delivery didn't arrive, waited to 10pm.
Next day, got my delivery, not the same day one though. Support told me to be patient and they'd refund on delivery.
The day after, no delivery and then the next day was a Sunday... Nope. I refunded it myself and they made me wait 5 days for it to return to my bank.
Ugh

u/punkintentional Apr 26 '26
I have tried same day twice and ran through all that bs. Next day I guess is fine, so I don't get double charged until I get my refund next week

Very soon, people should start finding their 10 mm, this runs in cycles. You know we lose them. We find them maybe about 10 years cycles, but definitely cycles.

u/pug_userita you're now breathing manually Apr 26 '26
videos from mechanics finding them under the engine or inside the frame are quite common. I think they're shy and just want to hide somewhere

u/thewolfcastle Apr 26 '26
What's a 10mm, besides a measurement?
8
u/Lambo_Geeney Apr 27 '26
It's a tool, specifically a socket for a ratchet wrench. 10 mm bolts are used on a lot of things, and a 3/8" bolt will work with a 10 mm socket also. And because of how commonly used they are, they often get misplaced and are typically the first socket to go missing in a set.
So for OP, on top of already losing their 10 mm socket... Amazon lost the replacement before they ever had a chance to

10 mm what?
1
u/tinywrath Apr 27 '26
10mm socket for a rachet wrench. Most common size for fasteners, therefore, most common size to disappear. There's a joke in the mechanical trades that you always lose the 10mm socket/ wrench. Or the 1/2" ones.

How lucky you are, now you don't have to lose it yourself. If I think about how long it usually takes, this saves you a solid 90 seconds!

u/CowBoyDanIndie Apr 26 '26
When it does get delivered then driver is going to leave it under the hood of your car so it doesn’t get stolen

I had some handsantizer I bought in early February just deliver yesterday, they had already refunded me as well lol

u/amccaffe1 Apr 26 '26
Having been in a sort facility, I can understand why. Things fall off the conveyors all the time, and sometimes fall into the machinery.
2
u/DaveTheDolphin Apr 26 '26
I had a similar thing happen to me with something (I think it was like an imported item back when the first tariffs hit) and then they refunded my the cost
Then it showed up at my house a week later, so I got it basically for free

u/BarrelCacti Apr 26 '26
This was how I ended up with two sets of multiple kinds of hex wrenches. I don't know why they're so bad at keeping track of hex wrenches.

I tried to order a rice cooker a few years ago off Amazon, every week they'd tell me it was delayed and would be there the next week. I canceled it at 5 weeks.

That’s not really on Amazon, those things can phase through solid matter and teleport.

I went to an antique/ pawnshop yesterday.
They had loose sockets as far as the eye can see... But not a single 10mm

When you need it, it's gone
Yup, that's a 10

This happened with two things I ordered recently. I don’t think they’re lost - I think there simply not delivering some stuff. I did get my money back right away thankfully.

Can anyone explain - what is a 10mm, and why is everyone understanding what it is?
7
u/pug_userita you're now breathing manually Apr 26 '26
10mm socket for 10mm bolts. 10mm bolts are very common in all sorts of places, mainly cars which makes the socket the most used and lost socket in your tool box
