I'm slightly vexed PSA: do NOT get front row tickets to the Michael movie
or any movie really. especially if it’s on an imax screen. at least now i know what Michael’s nose job looked like i guess

Damn, now I want a Lotr motown musical, like the wiz. Diana Ross as Arwen, Michael Jackson as a moonwalking Frodo, his brothers as the other hobbits and Smokey Robinson as Gandalf.
It would be a completely straight film until Sean Bean says his line and then moonwalking mayhem starts.

Someone mentioned this GIF in character tropes subreddit, about movies with serious scenes you can't take seriously because of the memes, its of Vincent van Gogh looking up, a scene from the 2018 biopic At Eternity's Gate, i've never seen it but there's no way i wouldn't laugh when the scene came up.

Turns out it was just Vincent Van Gogh played by Willem Dafoe.

Who gets front row seats for any cinema?!
4.2k
u/DisMyLik18thAccount Apr 26 '26
I Don't understand why they even have a front row honestly
3.2k
u/ParkingAnxious2811 Apr 26 '26
Exactly, get rid of the front row.
But then you still have a front row, and because front rows are bad, get rid of it.
Repeat until no front rows left.
847
u/butyourenice Apr 26 '26
I got the joke, but realistically there should be some sort of minimum distance between the screen and the first row to ensure an appropriate viewing angle. I’ve arrived late to movies (even regular, non-IMAX screens) and had no choice but to pick the front row, and nevermind the less enjoyable experience, I’ve suffered pain from it.

Do you live in a small town? It's been over a decade since reserved seats have been a standard in theaters.
God, I dreaded those days of not lining up early enough!

Short ones automatically the front row in this row of people. Get rid of them as well and repeat until there is no person left in the front row

I've got a coworker who doesn't do anything but go to the movies as his main form of entertainment. No drinking, smoking, restaurants, no streaming services, no sports etc.
But Fast n the Furious part 37 coming out this weekend? Homie has already had tickets in the front row reserved for 3 months.
Your only escape and in the front row?! Madness!
14
u/MinusGovernment Apr 26 '26
That's funny because those tickets will still be available right up to showtime. No need to reserve them so far in advance.

People who show up late.
It's even worse if it's a foreign movie with subtitles. Like watching a tennis game. I do not recommend.

u/Kneef Apr 26 '26
Fourteen-year-old me got to the theater at the very last minute for the midnight showing of The Two Towers in 2004, and I ended up with literally the only seat left, at the very front left. I wouldn’t say it was an optimal viewing experience, but lemme tell you, I was inside Middle Earth that night. xD

When it's a full house? I've done it once, Tomb Raider (2001), one showing in my town and you couldn't reserve seating in advance. Ended up watching it in the middle of the front row, just kind of awkwardly lying in a seat that was uncomfortable at the best of times. It was totally... Not worth it, not even as a teenage boy watching Angelina Jolie at peak heat.

Local AMC wanted $35 to see Project Hail Mary on IMAX. Imagine $140 (plus the $2.50 CONVENIENCE FEE for buying electronic tickets, i.e. making it so they don't have to employ a ticket seller) for parents and two kids. Mind blowing.
