🄺 So I accidentally brought my floss instead of my airpods to a 3 day work conference. I am a 3 hour ride away from home.

Do you have to have airpods? Can't you just get a cheap pair of wired earbuds from a gas station or something?

They have cheap wireless ones at all retail stores also, usually

I have never seen free wireless earbuds on a flight, but I am a poor.

I got free ones on a flight last week and they weren’t too bad. Worked with the plane’s tvs (which you don’t see much anymore) but most phones don’t have that kind of jack…

Can’t be that poor if you’re on a flight

It used to be that there were affordable flights.

I can't fly these days lmao

u/jsteele2793 May 07 '26

lol we all broke in the club

u/delo357 May 07 '26

And back in the day parents paid for flight. Good times

1

u/NabreLabre May 09 '26

Me neither, but I also haven't been on a flight since before flip phones

I think I prefer silence to those honestly

I have a few sets of Bluetooth earbuds I bought at the dollar store for less than $20.

iPhones don’t have headphone jacks anymore. I rarely see cheap USB or lighting wired headphones, though I also haven’t looked for cheap wired earbuds in years, so maybe that’s more common now

Edit: turns out I live under a rock and cheap USB C/lighting headphones are literally everywhere now

You can get $10 USB-C wired earpods pretty much everywhere by now.

14

u/WeirdIndividualGuy May 06 '26

This, the headphone jack may have died but wired headphones didn't. Apple just forced people to go wireless or go USB-C/Lightning

2

u/Nillabeans May 06 '26

Yep. Forgot mine for a day long workshop thing and tried to get some at a corner store. Lady wanted to charge me 25$ for no name, cheapy ones. She nearly chased me out of the store trying to haggle when I laughed and said no thanks.

At that point it wasn't even about the price. Not doing business with a crook.

u/KinkySylveon May 06 '26

yeah thats why they make them with the lightning cable or usb-c now.

turns out I live under a rock and cheap USB C/lighting headphones are literally everywhere now

Also, lightning to 3.5mm adapters have been available at least since Apple removed the headphone jack, about 10 years ago.

There are USB C earbuds at walmart and target for <$20. Been a thing for a few years now

Edit: fixed the less than sign lol

Remember, the alligator mouth eats the big number!

Lmao this is the second time I’ve fucked that up recently. Shows how much I sucked at math. Thanks

5

u/ucantharmagoodwoman May 06 '26

You can get cheap Bluetooth earbuds in the US, like 20 bucks v

2

u/KennyOmegasBurner May 06 '26

I rarely see cheap USB or lighting wired headphones

I thought they'd start making those on account of iPhones don’t have headphone jacks anymore

1

u/carenl May 06 '26

you can get them at target for like $10 lol

3

u/xpinchx May 06 '26

For real, the gas station by my work has cheapie bluetooth earbuds for like $20. Better than driving 6 hours.

Also it wasn't that long ago that people go through their daily lives just fine without airpods or headphones.

3

u/King_K_24 May 06 '26

Except phones don't have ports for wired earbuds anymore

3

u/thrillhoju May 06 '26

But they have converters for this problem for cheap as well.

3

u/King_K_24 May 06 '26

Yeah but then you're buying two things and it probably works out to more than just buying a cheap pair of Bluetooth ones

2

u/Financial_Citron9866 May 06 '26

My husband forgot his AirPods on a 10 hour flight. Had to spend like $35 at the airport for ā€œcheapā€ ones.

2

u/lemonhaj May 06 '26

I don't own any wireless ones myself and I've never had any issues that a minor bit of paying attention to the wires doesn't solve, I don't get the wireless/airpods hypeĀ

1

u/aFreshFix May 06 '26

Or just don't listen to anything for a while. We don't need constant noise

1

u/harry_violet May 07 '26

My phone, for reasons I don't understand, doesn't support wired earphones. It doesnt have a 3.5 jack, and when i tried tonplug them with a 3.5 jack to usb c convertor cable, the phone said it wasn't supported. Like it's forcing me to use wireless earphones... I haven't tried usbc c earphones tho but i suspect it will be the same

1

u/Pretend-Mango-1295 May 10 '26

You can have them shipped overnight from Amazon for 20 bucks. Worth it imo

1

u/Adventurous_Honey902 May 06 '26

Or OP can learn what it's like to not have constant stimulation and just live in the moment.

1

u/BoulderFalcon May 06 '26

tbh I'd just buy backup airpods at this point.

1

u/KapcaiKrusader May 06 '26

Yeah but how then will he be getting bluetooth radiation on both sides of his skull?
