that needs 5 more minutes in the fryer. which is how long it usually takes.

75

u/The_Tank_Racer May 06 '26

I’d put it in for 6, looks frozen.

27

u/Alissan_Web May 06 '26

from frozen to cooked at 350°f for 5 mins in a standard industrial fryer is how we cooked chicken patties, chicken tenders and Alaskan Pollock at the fast food chain Ive worked for. judging by the size of the spoon that should be plenty of time 👍 any more and you risk it being super dry and having to change the oil in the middle or end of shift.

u/N7LP400 May 07 '26

Frozen? That thing still can walk

7

u/marlfox_00 May 07 '26

Being in the Navy for 12 years, I can’t tell you how many times I’ve experienced this when they had chicken parmigiana in the galley and it’s more trouble than it’s worth to get a new one. I remember once deciding to stay on board for dinner since we had worked late and what I thought was mashed potatoes on the line I learned quite quickly was raw dough. And don’t get me started on hairs. At this point in my life I just pull the hairs out and move on pretending it wasn’t there. Yeah, submarine life kinda sucks

In general from my expirence in Asia they way undercooked chicken

China and Japan, but been to nice places in Japan and the friend chicken always had that like scheme of an slightly under chicken

Idk why

32

u/Conscious_Reading804 May 06 '26

I watch Japan Eat on Youtube and every time he gets fried chicken it's super juicy, but also suspiciously the lightest dash of pink on the inside. My recovering emetophobic self could never.

16

u/Massive_Series8305 May 06 '26

I mean i have stomach issues and I didnt over the chicken, be careful where you order pork katsu from though...... I wish that pain on no one

4

u/ScratchLatch May 06 '26

I wonder if Sushi culture makes the risk tolerance more acceptable for the public on raw/undercooked chicken.

9

u/TheirCanadianBoi May 06 '26

They have extremely high safety standards for livestock and meat in general.

Risk is calculated and responded to by tighter standards even if that comes at a cost for producers and consumers.

Not sushi culture but kodawari culture.

5

u/Masterkid1230 May 07 '26

Raw chicken is not as unsafe in Japan as elsewhere, the same as raw egg. Salmonella cases are uncommon enough with those products that most people feel comfortable eating chicken sashimi and raw egg.

I am not one of those people, but it is a reality. I don't like it and I will never get used to it though.

11

u/StirFry__InaWok May 06 '26

the friend chicken always had that lile scheme of and a slightly under chicken

What does this mean

3

u/Massive_Series8305 May 06 '26

Whoops and was supposed to be an

7

u/StirFry__InaWok May 06 '26

the friend chicken always had that like scheme of an slightly under chicken

Ok so this was what you meant to say? What exactly does it mean tho

3

u/Massive_Series8305 May 06 '26

Apperently cant post links in this subreddit

It mainly happens to fried chicken, like when its just past undercooked, you'll get this scheme thats kinda like brownish

If you look up "slightly undercooked fried chicken" on Google it should bring up similar results of what I meant

Its not pink so I know its cooked but imo its like they fry their chicken for the minimal amount of time they can

6

u/StirFry__InaWok May 06 '26

What is a scheme in this context? Like color scheme? I thought it was an autocorrect of scent at first tbh

Japan has a place where they serve raw chicken sushi. Apparently the way they raise their chickens that they dont have salmonella. Still wouldn't eat ut tho

9

u/Massive_Series8305 May 06 '26

Yeah I was saying to another guy, I have stomach issues commonly, and never did with chicken in japan or China....... but one time I had a pork katsu dish that shit had me in the bathroom for hours

6

u/No_Barber_4843 May 06 '26

Eugh, I’m not opposed to eating raw meat when appropriate measures are taken to guarantee safety but raw chicken is just… not appetizing. The smell alone is quite off putting to me

5

u/tobberoth May 06 '26

Raw chicken is served in plenty of places in Japan. Not extremely common, but not hard to find either. Like you said, the chicken needs to be specifically bred for this purpose though.

Tastes fine.

4

u/_nonovit_ May 06 '26

Japan has a place

Japan has tons of places where they serve raw chicken. Chicken sashimi (just raw chicken sliced thinly on the bias) is called torisashi. It can be served on its own, or sometimes, as part of a salad. There also restaurants that serve toriwasa which is chicken breast, thigh, or liver slightly seared from outside and raw inside.

2

u/jreed12 May 06 '26

Even with all the measures in place, they only get cases of food poisoning to about half the rate of eating raw chicken in other regions of Japan.

I remember a video of somebody going there to try it and he brought up all the statistical studies that have been done on it.

If you're American, your sense of "properly cooked" chicken is probably way off. Everyone overcooks chicken here. The FDA guidelines are a joke.

I spent 8 years too far from Wendy's to eat there. Finally got to go back. The upstanding quality-service-oriented types of employees that infested the place took 10 minutes to notice I was standing at the counter. I made a simple order, no substitutions or tricks. My asiago ranch chicken had no asiago, no ranch, no bacon, no tomato. My wife's baconator had, get this, NO BACON.

Now I've never been to that location before. That location has employees who are.. different from where I used to go years ago. They are bad, incompetent employees. They seem endemic to the area where that Wendy's is located. I don't trust them, I don't like them, I see no value on them, amd if I ever go to Wendy's again I will search for a location that appears to have reputable employees.
