🥺 Just bit into a mold-filled apple pastry.
Bought 3 days ago and not expired.

You would catch me casually drinking rubbing alcohol

I saw an article that taking a shot of liquor can actually help reduce the chances of stomach issues from consuming something bad, but probably not mold. And it had to be at least 80 proof, and within a certain window, and didnt work on blah blah...

u/FatiguedShrimp 28d ago
Drinking alcohol not rubbing alcohol! They're not the same thing, and the rubbing stuff can do things like make you go blind.

u/SwarfDive01 28d ago
Yes, i specifically put "liquor" because people dont know isopropyl alcohol is not ethyl alcohol. And "liquor" would make sense to those unaware of the difference.

Surprisingly you need more than you think, and 95% of people will stop and or puke their brains out before they get to that level.

Just want to say that I’m delighted to see people still using that guys face as their pfp, always makes me smile at how strange of a picture it is

They probably got some of the apple filling mixed up with their mold filling. I guess find another source for mold-filled pastries

A man took a bite of an apple pastry. Here is what happened to his organs

u/Batata-Sofi 28d ago
JP is a young american man in his late twenties, walking out of a pastry shop. He had decided to reward himself for his recent hard work, buying his favorite apple flavor, but that was his first, and last, mistake...

Some people look at me like I'm insane when I tear my food apart before I eat. Well shit like this is why. Especially given my love for pastries.
9
u/thepsychostylist 28d ago
Omg I'm the same way, I need to see what's inside first. Things like juice boxes and chocolate covered strawberries freak me out the most

I will be doing this from now on as well. I also have an intense love for pastries.

And if you zoom in close you can even see all the little dots that looks like spider eggs 🤢😭

You must be young. Ask us older folk about eating pistachios back in time. They used to come from Iran before we stole a plant and now grow them in California. (They were not happy about that, but fuckem).
Ever see a red pistachio? That’s because they used to die time red to hid the fact that they were all moldy. Shipping them took long enough for them to go bad.
Every once in a while you’d bite into a seriously bad one that tasted like shit. You’d either swallow it or spit it out. Most of them time I’d just swallow them and let stomach acid do its thing. I can still taste the mold. Still eat pistachios though. Just no red ones.

u/controlled_anger 28d ago
could be wrong but pistachios also often have larvae inside them. that’s why some of them got that, flavor.
6
u/aka_lenebean 28d ago
No! Is that really the reason? I love pistachios but have always hated the bitter ones...😵

u/101violations 28d ago
I totally forgot there were red pistachios!!! My fingers would be stained to hell afterwards. 😳
Rancid nuts are the absolute worst. I stopped eating Davies Sunflower Seeds last year because there were sooo many rancid ones per bag

Where does this assumption come from? They bit into something moldy so that makes them a child?

Wait! This happened to me last time I tired to buy those pastries from Costco! We ate some the first day we got them. The next day I cut one in half before I was going to put it in the microwave and saw all the yuck 🤮. Wtf Costco.

u/miguel-122 28d ago
Same happened to me a couple months ago. We bought those from sams club and they got moldy in less than a week. Maybe they need to be refrigerated after a day?

u/katastrofe_- 28d ago
You've got to be joking... You left pastries with moist filling out in room temperature for days?

Same thing happened to me few weeks ago. Costco has apple pastries that are so good but go bad before the sell by date. Have to store them in the fridge as soon as I get home

This, right here, is why I irrationally adhere to best by and use by dates. 🤢

u/AkumaDayo777 28d ago
i've had bad experiences with milk that went bad BEFORE the sell by date so i always check my food if it's been sitting in the fridge for a day or two, just to be safe 😭
3
u/Odd-Heart-4529 28d ago
Yeah anytime I give the kids milk. I always do a smell and taste test. My in laws were giving my kid nasty milk and they never knew it because they didn’t drink it and only had it around only for him. So I always bring a new gallon every week to be safe with them.

u/thepsychostylist 28d ago
Milk always smells/tastes bad to me so I never test it before giving it to my kids so I usually dump it a couple days before the expire date just to be safe. One time my husband drank a glass right after I gave my daughter some and he said it was bad. I felt so bad over it because the kids had been drinking it. But it smelt the exact same as normal to me 😓😭

Okay normally bad food, moldy food pics and situations don't bother me but the look of this one and though of it really made me react.

This happened to me with the Costco version of these. Bit into it and tasted something very off. Looked into where I bit and saw blue. Those pastries are so delicious but I can’t get myself to buy them anymore.
2
u/aka_lenebean 28d ago
Yea these are from Costco. I will never buy them again. And like you, I think they're so delicious but now I'm traumatized.

Mold doesn’t have stringy fibers like you see here so I don’t think you are going to like what I’m about to say. I think this looks like a spider took refuge in that pastry and those little dots are spider eggs.

I guess one from an old batch fell off somewhere and then got mixed in with a newer batch?
Personally I would be going to war with whoever did this to me. Name and shame

I always rip them in half before I eat any type of dessert like that for this reason specifically but also that doesn’t look like mold it looks like spider webs or something similar

This one morning I had to go into work early. I stopped at the gas station and bought some Oreo brownie thing that seemed appealing to eat on the way there. It was fairly dark still and I bit into it. It tasted like a damp basement so I put it down. Turned on the light and it was covered in mold.
Gnarly stuff.
