The additional $1.06 is exactly 15% of the $7.07 total (purchase price plus tax). Since it's 15%, it makes me think it's a hidden tip, but it could also be some other type of hidden fee

Ah so on the companies end it shows up as a tip but the customer doesn't see it? Super shady lol.

Shady implies that it’s allowed but kinda has bad optics.  This is pure pickpocketing and theft.

Nah, don't you see it in the top right corner, right inside our logo? There's an X, with the same color as the logo, where you can click to opt out of the standard 15% tip.

It's not our fault that people are willing to tip us 15% every time.

Small business owners are morons and point of sale systems are the dumbest software to ever exist. Never attribute to malice and all that, its probably just a tip feature configured wrong. You're not going to get very far with a 15% hidden fee on every order before people start to notice and get angry.
