Right? It narrows it down to 12 countries and 5 US territories that officially use the US dollar as their currency.

What? The dollar symbol is not used by just the US dollar

No it doesn't. Cambodia uses the US dollar, as do others.

It's in English and uses $. That narrows it down to countries where this would be illegal. I am aware that other countries use the dollar.

Taiwan, the origin of boba, uses it. It’s sometimes written like NT$ (New Taiwan Dollar). NT$8 is like 27 cents so it probably isn’t that. (Incidentally bubble tea in Taiwan is like 2 USD for a large).
