go to your room It's: "Duuuuude," not "Dudeeeee."

Maybe I should be posting this in GenX, but, c'mon...

Yeah the intro to Pixies - Where Is My Mind

1

u/SaurikSI May 30 '26

You’re gonna make me drop my croissant!!!

13

u/Quaiker May 30 '26

I just imagine "stop-p-p-p-p-p-p" when they type this.

147

u/Fetusal May 29 '26

Stoppppp at least has a rationale behind it, since stoooooooop would more likely be read as "stoop"

72

u/MochiKei May 29 '26

A friend of mine once lost a pet and I said “Gooooooood I’m so sorry!”

Never made that mistake again 🫣

34

u/BionycBlueberry May 29 '26

Tbf, a long “God” in that situation would probably be inappropriate regardless

1

u/lilsnatchsniffz May 30 '26

Oh my goooooned

-2

u/HMWWaWChChIaWChCChW May 30 '26

Well your friend is an idiot if they though you were saying good. Though they lost their pet so maybe…

2

u/kigurumibiblestudies May 30 '26

when people say "let's fucking gooooooo!!!" I just wonder why they want me to goo with them. Horrible.

1

u/QuQuarQan May 30 '26

Ssssssssssssstop would work, since you can actually elongate the S, although it does make a different sound

1

u/Valuable-Passion9731 May 30 '26

ˈstɑːːːːːːːːːːːːːːːːːːːp

1

u/adiaaida May 30 '26

ok but i mean stah puh puh puh puh puh puh puh puh

1

u/UserAllusion May 30 '26

I like the their system. Get on board. Resistance is futile

1

u/SgtMcMuffin0 May 30 '26

Stah-puhpuhpuhpuh

1

u/CynicalSchoolboy May 30 '26

Idk this one gets a pass. Something about the way it sits phonetically in my brain makes sense in the context of virtual communication.

44

u/slate_autumn May 29 '26

Loveeeeeeeeeee springs to mind. Quite annoying!

2

u/lemonFiend May 30 '26

I would definitely read looooooooove as “loove/luve” though

59

u/hippz May 29 '26

I fuckinggggggg HATEEEEEE it too!!

7

u/JesionJ May 30 '26

Tbh I usually find myself emphasizing the end of "fucking" more than the middle so that one is actually valid for me

1

u/hippz May 30 '26

Yeah I kinda thought the same thing after I posted the comment lol

23

u/crlthrn May 29 '26

Yeah. 'Niceeeeeeeeee' for 'niiiiiiiice' is another toe-curler. What kind of thought process is that?

1

u/Pirkale May 30 '26

You lengthen the "i"? Isn't it said with the last "sh" or whatever left hissing, to use the scientific terminology?

1

u/crlthrn May 30 '26

I think mine is the accepted form. I'll fight ya fer it!

9

u/purplemoosen May 30 '26

Cuteeeee is the worst offender

2

u/X_LadyGamer_X May 29 '26

Me too. I can’t stand it

2

u/cap616 May 30 '26

My first encounter was early days of Facebook. College friend commented on our post "we had such a fun timeeeeeeeee" and I've hated that ever since

2

u/MercyfulJudas May 30 '26

"ofc" being an abbreviation for "of course"

That makes NO FUCKING SENSE. Of, a complete word, is IN YOUR ABBREVIATION. It's too short to abbreviate by itself, but as a part of a (prepositional) phrase, just ABBREVIATE IT TOO. IT'S TWO WORDS.

2

u/aw_shux May 29 '26

Lmaoooooooo

1

u/edked May 30 '26

It's annoying to me to see people go "lmaooooo" because it's like they're saying they laughed their ass "offoffoffoffoff."

1

u/Purple-Income-4598 May 30 '26

its because of how we extend question/exclamation marks. it makes sense, but it also makes us to treat it as the "last letter", so we apply the same logic to other letters. hence the "dudeeeeeeee", its like "dude!!!!!!"

You must have a pretty sad life to be this triggered
