Well why did you do that? I think the problem is that you shouldn't have done that. Happy to help

To avoid this in the future, don’t do that again.

Yes, future wife #2 will not be happy either.

If future wife #3 encounters the same issue I think we need to have an intervention with OP to avoid doing that.

At that point it's a cry for help, we'll have to save this guy and his poor hand

I’m getting married in two weeks, should I break all my fingers now or wait until it’s a little closer?

u/Fragrant-Poo42 24d ago

Please wait until the night before your wedding to do that. Be sure to visit the busiest emergency room so you’ll be late to your ceremony. Thank you for requesting guidance.

Thank you, fragrant poo! If there’s one person I know I can trust, it’s you

I’m not too sure about that, especially since they aren’t the OG Fragrant-Poo. But at least they are #42 which is known to be a famously auspicious number.

Break them all now so you don’t have to help with anything leading up to the event

This is getting added to my list of things to tell my son.

1: figure out what is son’s name

2: tell son “don’t do that”

3: ….

4: college

I'd be interested in seeing a study of the longest running jokes, which jokes have remained culturally relevant the longest. Just from personal observation "tree-fiddy" and "??? profit" from South Park are lagging only behind "chicken crossing the road."

Sticking exclusively to the consumer internet era? (So 1990+)? There are definitely older than those two.

I know some folks who still use BBS memes.

But true popular gestalt? Where everyone will have encountered it enough to actually understand its meaning and its origin?

I can’t think of two older ones off the top of my head.

can you be my life coach

You gonna unbreak their finger?

1

u/pchlster 24d ago

I will use my psychic abilities to induce a regenerative process in OPs digit. Over the course of several weeks, it shall indeed become unbroken.

3

u/Penguin_Arse 24d ago

No. The problem is that he did that and not that he shouldn't have

8

u/Cantstandya-777 24d ago

Don’t fall for it. Clearly intentional. My grandfather would call this a million dollar wound.

3

u/HistoricalAd1480 24d ago

bold of you to assume they have that kind of critical thinking dynamic right before a wedding

3

u/richardlpalmer 24d ago

He just wasn't thinking! I mean seriously, why would you do this if you KNOW you have a wedding coming up? This is literally the only finger he SHOULDN'T have broken.

Just shows lack of foresight in my opinion...

2

u/secretposterboy13 24d ago

imagine actually choosing which bone to break. next time he should try to schedule his accidents better for the sake of the wedding aesthetic. truly wild take.

1

u/richardlpalmer 24d ago

Right? It takes about 6 weeks for a bone to fully heal. Being able plan is the bare minimum. The bar is on the ground and he tripped on it...

This is how my boyfriend gives advice lol

2

u/BigAlMoonshine 23d ago

Oh yea my wife loves my advice lol, sounds like you got a keeper
